Joey Dorsey "I'm Ray Lewis with a basketball"

Les Alexander is GHETTO. He got a cell phone call, and HE ANSWERED IT in the middle of the press conference. Daryl Morey and Joey Dorsey bring down the house w/ laughter. MUST SEE TV.

Fantastic press conference. The guys seem to be genial, laid-back, and intelligent... they get along well with the higher-ups, which is good. They're aware of their strengths and weaknesses. They bring different things to the table. Look to be a good fit here. I'm impressed.

Also, if we felt like going young a couple times next year: Brooks, Greene, Dorsey, Landry, Scola. Not bad...

It also prevents you from becoming like the spurs, irrelevant. As much as you hate their inexperience, you have to have fresh blood to continue to be a good franchise. If t-mac sucks again this season, maybe we can bring in an up and coming player to retool the team around Yao.

I know that you're joking, but I actually thought about Howard when I first saw this. The younger incarnation though, not the 2008 version. This guy is doing windmill dunks and 360s. Dwight is much taller and better of course so he is like a poor man's(homeless even) version of Howard in that he is so bulked up, such an explosive dunker and can't shoot a free throw to save his life, lol. Look at the 32 second mark though where he blocks two shots and then races back down the court outrunning the guards. That is pretty damn impressive for a guy that weighs in at 265. If he had any post game at all he would have gone in the 1st round. Maybe they can work with him on a drop step so he can get himself in position to throw down one of those monster dunks. That was pretty much the full extent of Howard's offensive abilities for the first few years when he wasn't much of a threat. I think that is his ceiling...rookie Dwight Howard. In the meantime, watch all of those easy layups he gets from T-Mac that used to be blown by Hayes to be thunderous dunks that get us up out of our seats!

If Dorsey can stay out of foul trouble, then I believe he will replace Chuck. He's 3 inches taller at 6'9, much heavier/stronger, is a better shotblocker, and a better finisher around the rim. Did we just find our back up C? I know he's only 6'9, but the way the league is looking nowadays he might work out as our back up C.

except Morey himself said Joey is only 6'7"
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

He is actually only 6'7, but he has the wingspan and standing reach of a 7 footer, Fortunately you block and contest shots with your arms and not the top of your head. Kinda like Maxiell of Detroit in that sense. He was able to block guys like Garnett who are much taller than him. You know, the same Garnett who over the years has shot over the top of our PFs like he was playing against nobody in practice.

Ah my bad then; I stand corrected. Either way though, Vator is right. Guys like Elton Brand (6'8) and Maxiell (6'7) are short, but they have very long wingspans. Dorsey's long arms will be much more helpful on the defensive end then any of our current PFs.

His arms make his lack of height a poor argument in regards to rebounding and contesting shots. He has the tools to do those things as well as most guys 4 to 5 inches taller. It will be easier for guys to look over him though, but I think that is less important than the other two things. Not to mention he is 265 pounds of chisled muscle. It is going to take a man's man to move him off the block or even box him out for that matter. When he sets a pick or screen on somebody, they are going to feel it and remember it. One problem is gonna be foul trouble though. A local sports radio host(Charlie Palillo) called him mobile, agile, and hostile.

What do you suppose would happen if we hooked him up to a Red Bull IV before big games? :D

Well, if he really is Ray Lewis with a basketball, and you intravenously fuel him with Red Bull, let us just hope he doesn't kill no mother effin' lion yo.

I dont see why people think he can't play C. This dude is wicked strong and can overpower players with his strength.

At least thats what I heard.

i live in memphis and have watched every single college game Dorsey has played in....

you got a steal, IMO....he certainly is the ray lewis of basketball...

I can't think of a better team for him to go to....

If Chuck Hayes can succeed opposite Yao Ming, Dorsey is going to kill it. His athleticism is amazing....he has great shot blocking instincts....he will catch any oop McGrady tosses him....
