Most of us love Maggs, but we realize that of our big-contract guys, he is the most expendable. He is highly coveted around the league, which means that we are likely to get some nice pieces in exchange for him, and now with the emergence of Al Thornton, we don't rely on him as much as we used to. Overall, if getting rid of Maggs proves to be better for the team, Clipper fans are all for it. Personally, I'd like to see him stay, but I wouldn't be mad if the front office worked some magic...pun intended...and got some valuable parts for him via S&T.
Well, most who have known me over the years know that I'm not very fond of Maggette's game. I just don't think he's the right player to put this team over the top. We've tried the Brand/Maggette combo for how long now...it's not working. For all of the points he scores and the free throws he shoots, I can't stand the lack of motivation on defense, his decision making, his low basketball IQ and his inconsistent outside shooting. To me, he's just a stats guy. I've simply gotten tired of him over the years. I used to be a Maggette fan in the Odom/Darius/Q days but no longer. S&T would be ideal but if we can't get anything done I wouldn't mind just seeing him bolt. We'll have money to sign what we really need: a decent PG.
Al Thornton has already taken his spot anyway.
