Guys who seem to not be able to have any luck no matter ....

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Tue Jul 1, 2008 1:06 am

Guys who seem to not be able to have any luck no matter where they go.

Players that come to mind are Eddie Jones and Grant Hill.

Eddie Jones was traded back in the day for Glen Rice and then the Lakers go on to win titles. Later he was on the Heat in 2004-2005 where they won 59 games and then he was traded again this time to Memphis and then the Heat win it all the next year.
Afterwards he goes to Dallas and then they lose in the 1st round.

Grant Hill has always been a great player. He was the Scottie Pippen prototype player, basically they were the same type of player. He was on Detroit with Joe Dumars and they never got out of the 1st round. He then went to Orlando and got injured and was really never the same.
Then he went to Phoenix with an opportunity to win a title and then he ends up losing in the 1st round again.

Are there any other players that seem to have no luck no matter where they go or what happens?

Would you really include Yao? I agree he has been injury prone but it's not like he has been on different teams before, which I think was a requirement from the OP. If I am wrong, that's my bad.

And I agree with Stephon that fool should have just stayed with Minnesota. Because since then his career has been abysmal in terms of impact.

Tracy McGrady is the unluckiest guy in the NBA right now

Brand.

He gets a contract with Miami then the Clippers match and he's stuck for another 5 years of junk.

Karl Malone - Of all the years to suffer a knee injury....does it have to be the year where merely walking on the court guaranteed an NBA Title (of course with cohesion and no drama) for the Lakers?

Not really 5 years of junk. The Clippers were one win away from the western conference finals.

Adrian Dantley's career was also hilariously unlucky:

* LAKERS: was KAJ's team mate in the bad pre-Magic squads. Then LA traded him to Utah instead of Jamaal Wilkes. LA of course wins 5 rings and Dantley goes home empty handed. Imagine a frontcourt of KAJ / Worthy / Dantley!! GOAT??
* UTAH: was far and away the best Jazz player, but the only good player next to him was offensively challenged Mark Eaton. Dantley was unhappy and opted out, and missed playing with Karl Malone and John Stockton.
* DETROIT: Dantley was part of the great Pistons who were on par with LA and BOS, but always fell short. Then Isiah persuaded the Pistons to trade him for Aguirre, and bang, Pistons win the title and Dantley is empty handed again.

Eddie Jones was a great example along with Grant Hill. Everyone thinks Tracy McGrady as well which also comes to mind quickly. Stephon Marbury has just been a cancer to whatever team he is on...I remember when he was ontop of the nba and was in the allen iverson calibur player.

Steve Francis now comes to mind. He never got out of the first round in houston; gets traded and vanishes from the nba court. He was a top point guard when he came out too in 99 and he should still be a 16-20, 7-8 apg player.

Livingston....
No matter where he goes on the court, he will injure himself.

I hope he can make a full recovery after that horrible lay-up......

+1 to Ricky Davis. He's changed his game and is a great complimentary player nowadays but he's always been on bad teams. Ironic in BOS as well, as soon as AL Jefferson is played enough to bust out Ricky was traded the year before. If Ricky played with a healthy Pierce and broken out AL Jefferson for a couple of years he would have been able to taste some playoff success perhaps.
