FA Ricky Davis
If we lose James Posey I think we should give Ricky a shot.
It appears he's being run out of Miami after some poor seasons. I thought he was a great offensive player when he was with boston. He can shoot from the perimeter, can make his own shot, and get to the basket at will. I even thought his defense was underated, he always hustled and brought intensity to the game.
I dont recall Rivers of Ainges thoughts on Ricky, I know he and Peirce butted heads a bit. and he did play with KG in Minny for a year as well.
Also good insurance to have a proven scorer to throw in should one of the big three ever get seriouslly injured.
He could be had for much less than Posey, all though obviously Posey is the priority
Also im pretty sure he still owns a property in Wayland, Ma, i was there partying with his nephew last summer.... i wonder if old Rick knew abt that?
What do u think

Re: FA Ricky Davis
I think he is plan C. After Magette signs with someone [MLE with us,Spurs, or above MLE with PHIL] we will go after Posey.
If we can't bring back Posey you go after Ricky. Now no he's no Posey but he's on a simlar level and Ricky can step back and hit the 3 as well.
Honestly I didn't think Magette would even be an option but my prefrence [assume they all cost full MLE] would go Corey,Posey,Ricky.
Ricky is a diffrent type of defender though and we'd strugle against the LeBrons and Butlers.. Magette would be perfect.

Re: FA Ricky Davis
^^uhh, what?
Yeah, let's replace a guy who fits in on a TEAM and plays D (Posey) with a guy who plays no D and is always looking for his own shot (Ricky). Not to mention what the over/under would be on how many games into the season before KG got fed up with Ricky's **** and beat him to a pulp.
Why the **** is everyone on here so keen to bring back shite players we got rid of FOR A REASON seasons ago?

Bring back GOOGS while we're at it!
All kidding aside, I just don't think that Ricky would be a good replacement for Posey at all. He should be a plan G if that roster spot absolutely cannot be filled.

Re: FA Ricky Davis
Obviously Ricky Davis cant REPLACE James Posey. They are completely Different Offensively and Defensivly. But if you have Ricky Davis for offensive situations and a healthy Tony Allen, or another proven stopper via FA.(mayb just Giddens/Walker) and I think we will be okay without Posey.
Also anyone remember Rondo getting ignored offensivly in the playoffs and us being forced to put in
house to spread the floor and get one on one mathcups. Id say Ricky Davis could fill that
Eddie House role very well.

Ricky Davis is a terrible fit for this team. He's a "me" player that plays little defense. I wouldn't even try to talk to him if the C's lose out on Posey and Maggette.

Re: FA Ricky Davis
your right he is a "me" player. but if he agrees to come here as a bench player. and his role is to come in and take his shots. ala sam cassel / House. i think he'd fit as long as he wants to win for a change.

Re: FA Ricky Davis
Please no. Davis was a headache for Rivers and some of those teammates who'd played with him. I personally was glad to see him traded off.
I mean who can forget this scene of Davis.

I don't remember if it was this game or another. But, who can forget the infamous skipping episode of Blount.
I mean who can forget this scene of Davis.
Ricky Davis' jumper from the corner with 0.2 seconds remaining lifted the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 109-107 victory, prolonging the winter of discontent in Boston.
After hitting the shot in front of the Celtics bench, Davis posed with his arm in the air, then got a bear hug from Blount to add just a little extra sting.
"It's special when you get traded together with a guy like Mark," Davis said. "He feeds off me and I feed off him and it was just a great feeling for us to beat them. Mark came over and gave me that big hug, he got me going so it's just a great feeling."

keep ricky davis as far away from this team as possible, he is a career loser, and almost on marbury's level of me first play

Re: FA Ricky Davis
I am so **** sick of some people on this board wanting to bring back the garbage we were lucky to jettison in the first place. If it's not Al, Gomes, Delonte, or Antoine, the answer is a resounding FRUCK NO!!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Re: FA Ricky Davis
You guys know that you all loved Ricky when he was here. He has given us all some great memories as a Celtic. The details on locker room problems didn't come out until after he was traded, so I am not sure how serious that actually was. You had Blount, Banks, and Davis who apparently made up a contingent who weren't really into Doc's teachings. At the time, you'd probably find few fans who were into what he was doing with the basketball team as well.
Most basketball players in the league, believe that they are the best guy on the floor, for Ricky this is especially true to almost a point of absurdity. I will say that it's less likely for a marginal player to behave that way when he is on a winning team, so Ricky won't be as bad as he has been in the past. Furthermore, we have all seen how effective Davis was in his 6th man role when he was backing up Tony. In this role, it's okay for him to be a hotshot, because what we want most from our 6th man is for him to score a lot of points for us. Having Ricky start along side Pierce was not effective, because of their similarities, but using him off the bench for a scoring punch, really worked out well.

the Ricky era had to be one of the saddest in Celtics history looking back at it. we were enthralled with mediocrity and didnt even realize it

Re: FA Ricky Davis
Boo-hoo. Ricky was a 6th man contender on a horrible team. That says something about how well he did in that role in order to get serious contention.
Ricky is not Posey. Ricky can't guard big players like Posey. Ricky can shoot the 3 like Posey, Ricky can initiate the offense like.. no one on the bench. Ricky can bring the ball up the floor like... no one on the bench.
There are obvious posititve aspects of having Ricky as our 6th man, is he proven clutch and a tall defender like Posey? NO. But he will solve our ballhandling issues and there is no promblem with House as a PG when you have Ricky bringing the ball up.
Ricky didn't display selfish ball on the court when he was here, and he lead the team in Assists per game. And as for the person posting the ealier pic who could forget this.. you realized you just posted a game winning shot right?
Ricky would be fine coming off the bench and excuse me if I think he could bring more then then James Jones to our team.

Look that's a very nice plan C. I agree that A and B are Maggs and Posey...if both fail, then you go after Ricky...but only if both fail. He would be a nice piece on this team as a 6th man.
