Because they are motivated and were embarrassed the last 3-4 years, i think they will play better than the past editions of Team USA. Despite having the same talent level as before, they'd perform better because of that motivation.
The question is how far have other teams improved as well?
60 per cent chance the US team re-grabs the gold.
What are the chances of the USA not winning gold at Beijing?

Just so people know, Sergio Rodriguez did not make the cut for the Spanish team so he is not playing. Also, Walter Hermann retired from the Argentina team so he is not playing either. People have been mentioning them in this thread but they are not playing.
Also, 4 of the key rotation players (3 starters. plus the team captain/locker room leader) on the great Greek team that was the 2005 European Champions and the 2nd place finishers at the 2006 World Championship and beat the US have also retired from the Greek team so they have a lot of first time and young players on the team and that team will have played together far less time than the US has played together, so can't really count them as "experienced" anymore.
And a lot of people here are forgetting about Lithuania they are in the elite teams as well. Also Russia won the last Euro Championship beating Spain in Madrid so don't forget them either.

I just read on ESPN's scrolling score bar thing. That tyson chandler will be brought as a alternative. They really need to put boozer(or bosh) as the alternative and put tyson on the team.

About as much as the gold medal means to the average person in America. So not much at all.

I give them about a 70% chance. Remember, the international refs aren't on Stern's payroll.

As long as the Black Mamba is suiting up we will lose no games in these Olympics. That dude is krazy except against the Boston Celtics.
