A wink-wink deal didn't stop Boozer from bolting town when a larger offer came along. The agents first priority is to get his client the most money, and if he sees that he can get more then he will twist the Clippers arm to do it.

honestly the warriors would be better with brand than the clips if ellis and jackson can run the offense. I am just not sure Brand realizes that.

Chris Mullin is just bored. He's throwing around random money to see what happens.

The agent in this case is a semi-retired type, David Falk. Falk has gone for seeming "discounts" in the past, though usually subsidiary considerations like endorsements and serious competitive advantage (not a Baron Davis playmate) come with that territory. So this entire Clippers offseason is currently resting upon the hope and prayer that their near-MVP caliber power forward agrees to a major, major, unprecedented pay cut just to play beside Baron Davis.

Some time before any ink dries yet.
Warriors are not sitting on their hands, give credit where due on that front.

I am not sure exactly how much the Clippers have offered Brand, but after looking at the numbers they could start him at about $12M or so. With 10.5% raises that is $72.6M for 5 years & $90.9M for 6 years. I guess if anything, the offer from the Warriors could force the Clipps to offer that 6th year.

I'd be very stunned if he accepted the Warriors offer. It would be very funny though and typical Clippers.

Brand and Baron are good friends. Brand opted out of his contract so that the Clippers would be able to sign Baron. This is just the Warriors desperately throwing their money around. LA is the better situation for Brand in the end anyway.

Just to let you guys know, both Brand and Stephen Jackson are best of friends. They've known each other for a long time, they used to carjack with each other; partners in crime, they say.

I hope Baron's friendship is worth over 30 million...

Rumor has it our offer is above 100 now.

Stupid Baron, the plan was to get Elton Brand to play with you in Golden State... not the other way around.

Basketball Brinksmanship...Love it...They should make a movie about this fiasco. What is Mullin doing? Does he even have a plan or playing a game of chicken.

At least Mullin's plan of making himself not look that bad seems to be working so far amongst GS fans.

How did Mullin look bad to begin with? Because he failed to offer Baron a 5 year extension?
Because Baron continuously told him he wasn't opting out until the last minute? Come on, if you had a bunch of cap space all of a sudden, would you throw it at Brand/Arenas, or at Maggette? This is an easy answer.

Sounds like sour apples to me.

Highly unlikely that it is, and there's no way to know for sure....

Based on last years numbers a player with 9 years experience has a maximum starting salary of $15,649,500. A players maximum salary is the afformentioned set amount or 105% of his previous salary whichever is higher. At the moment the Max starting salary for Elton Brand would 105% of his previous salary which would is $16,111,200. With 8% raises that equates to 5yrs $93,444,960. The set maximum amount for a player with 9 years exeprience would have to jump to over $17M to get to a contract in excess of $100M for Brand.

It would be stupid for Brand to decline the warriors offer..
30 million to move in the same state... I'd do it in a heartbeat

If he declines the money and better team situation, he really thinks highly of Baron, Mike Dunleavy, Cuttino Mobley's hairline, Chris Kaman's mugshot, and those kids.

Serious contender pretty much never AND cap hell?! Lucky dog.

Way to go, Mr. Falk. Is this like a formal retirement party?

big difference. utah offered money that cleveland couldn't match. gs is offering money that the clips could not only match, but significantly surpass.
