It still seems weird to me that this happens at all (teams changing cities). I am a huge football (soccer) fan, and back home in the UK, it has happened once, to my knowledge. Wimbledon, a South London team, battled for years to get planning permission to renovate or rebuild their stadium, primarily because it was so old it didn't meet building codes any longer. Their requests were refused. After about a decade, they gave up and moved elsewhere. But Wimbledon were and are a tiny team - it would never happen with one of the massive clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool.
I just feel bad for the Sonics fans.
Sonics are moving to Oklahoma next season.

Once again David Weasel Stern puts aside the integrity and history of th eleague to side with anothe rfellow shyster businessman and move a team to a dead city that already close tot he three other Texas teams as other have mentioned. Vegas and St Louis maybe, but Oklahoma City?
By the way, what happened to all the talk aout games being fixed? I see how th eNBA henchmen swept that under the rug and made the media go away.

I'm pretty sure David Stern killed Kennedy... and if he didn't, it's certainly Otis' fault for not making the moves to prevent it.
Very sad for Sonics fans, I remember visiting Seattle in 1997 right after their finals run and the Sonics and pictures of the players were everywhere... A shame the city didn't get behind the new arena.
