I would love seeing CC in cubbie blue.

I would think Hill, Murton, Pie and Ceda could get the job done.

1. Zambrano (R)
2. Sabathia (L)
3. Dempster (R)
4. Lilly (L)
5. Gallagher (R)

:droop:

But it's likely not going to happen.

BP did a breakdown of what their prediction system (PECOTA) expects so far out of the guys drafted last year. The news on Vitters is still terrible.

#3. Josh Vitters, 3B, Cubs
2008 Projection (EqBA/EqOBP/EqSLG): .204/.253/.303
2012 Projection: .232/.286/.358
Upside Score: 8.7
Top Comps: John Oliver, Corey Smith, Ben Davis, Trevor Plouffe, Billy Rowell
2008 Performance: .143/.143/.286 (Low-A, 14 PA)

PECOTA really took a disliking to Vitters. For whatever reason, high school third basemen taken toward the top of the draft haven

This move should have been made last week.

Some thoughts.

- What the hell happened to Rich Hill? This guy may seriously need a therapist or something. He's just not with it. 28 walks in 26 innings, a 5.88 ERA.
- Sean Marshall gave up 1 run in 8 innings on Thursday night. Will he get called up anytime soon?
- And Jason Dubois has emerged once again as a beast in Iowa, who wudda thunk it? 1.081 OPS.

Pie was sent to Mesa for an MRI on his left hand, and Rich Hill was sent to Mesa to work on his mechanics.

Josh Vitters has had a great start to his 08 campaign:

.304 .360 .391 .751 4 rbi's, but only one extra base hit...which was a triple.

This in 23 ABs.

Ryan Flaherty signed and got a homer last night.

Not sure what Cashners status is.

Jose Ceda got his first save at AA.

Tyler Colvin is batting a staunch .227 with a JJ esque 62 k's.

And lastly in the Az league fluke dept:

Samu Fuld is batting .221

I remember when Sam Fuld was being considered for starting CF this offseason. Now he is hitting .221 in AA.

Pie is hitting in the low .200's also. Who would have thought of the Cubs signing Reed Johnson or Jim Edmonds a week before the season started?

Jeff Samardzija opening eyes with Iowa Cubs
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com ... 1729.story
SAN FRANCISCO - The Cubs are closely monitoring the progress of pitching prospect Jeff Samardzija, who has pitched well in his first two starts at Triple-A Iowa.

"Actually, he has been throwing the ball better in Triple-A than in Double-A ball," manager Lou Piniella said. "Maybe if we move him up to the big leagues, he'll even throw the ball better."

Piniella was laughing when he said it, but speculation is the former Notre Dame football/baseball star is being groomed to come up later in the year and provide the Cubs with another power arm in the bullpen.

Yeah I know, what ever happened to him?

We traded him to the Pirates for Jody Gerut I think.
