Otis has actually played this pretty smart. Maggette knows he is our first option, but we're not going to wait around until after this Josh Smith/Philadelphia thing plays itself out. If Duhon accepts the Magic's offer, I'm sure Maggette will get one last phone call saying "it's now or never." While it would certainly hurt to see Maggette sign somewhere else for the mle, it would hurt a hell of a lot more to lose out on other free agents that can help the team while we're waiting in vain for him to decide.

At this point the market for Maggette should be quite clear. His agent should know if Philadelphia or Golden State will come calling when Smith/Brand end up staying with their teams.

Also Baron and Brand would have the power to determine what the Clippers have left to resign Corey which is interesting. GS also could become a player in free agency and might sign Maggette.

doesnt gs also have to sign monta and adriens already?? i dont know what their payroll is but would they even be able to realisticly give corey much more than the mle after they resign their own two players?

Well you saw they just offered Brand 90 million so that should answer your question. Ellis is a second round pick so he has almost no cap hold. Biedrins cap hold is not that big either. Really they could spend all the way to the cap and then resign Ellis and Biedrins if they want.

Not that it really changes the point of your post -- that they could offer Maggette a contract now, but Biedrins actually has a decent sized caphold, and if Ellis were to receive a good offer from another team, his caphold would instantly skyrocket leaving the Warriors in a tough spot.

Ideally, because of Biedrins hold being a little lower than he'll probably actually get, and Ellis' being a lot lower, they're probably hoping to do things in a set order (with them last), but if another team made a move on Ellis before they got whatever else they were wanting to do (Brand), the other team could feasibly put a big dent in their plans simply by messing up the advantage that the Warriors had -- the order in which they could/would have done things.

Thought you guys would like this

I was told the Warriors are interested in one of the better unheralded point guards (IMHO) - Keyon Dooling. I like him because he can play both positions, he deends and he’s experienced.

If you follow this article you will realize that Oakland is considering Corey that tells me they think that Brand will not accept their offer. Now Oakland has the kind of money that Corey is looking for and the Magic don't have neither do many other teams including Boston, Spurs and Utah.
