Diop question

Post#1 » by andymoteach » Thu Jul 3, 2008 2:59 pm

First of all, yes I am a Mavericks fan and your team got the better of the Kidd trade. Now that is done I am looking for a way that might help both teams. How about instead of just letting Diop go for nothing to the Mavs the Nets sign and trade him to the Mavs for Jerry Stackhouse? I saw today that the Nets are bringing in forwards so Stack might be a need in that area. Also his contract is 7M this year and close to that next year, but only 2M of the second season is guaranteed. If the Nets are looking to keep cap room to make a run for LeBron then he could work. And this way the Nets do not have to sign someone like Matt Barns to a longer deal. From the Mavs perspective it allows them to keep their MLE.

I really don't think we're going to bail you out here. You don't really have something of interested for us and our future plans ...

The only thing I could see happening would be s&t George (1 yr $4.4 m)and cash ($3 m) for s&t Diop. George isn't a rebuilding piece, but he could provide some decent help off the bench for cheap, while not interfering with any cap space plans in the future.

If a S&T brings us a halfway decent SF with not more then 2 years of guaranteed money i'm all for a S&T .

We don't really have anyone for that position Bobby Simmons can't be counted on with his health concerns.

But, why acquire a veteran? Why not just start Boki and Carter at the very worst and attempt to acquire a youthful free agent?
