Should've supported them more?
Even the seahags had a better fanbase than the sonics.. That's no bueno.
OKC may be a smaller city.. But they sold out every hornets game they had a couple years ago.

Whats with dissing the Seahawks? Of chorse they have a good fan base. 1 Its the NFL 2. They went to the Superbowl just a couple of years ago and make the playoffs every year 3. They have a brand new stadium. Why wouldn't Seattle support them?

Which doesn't mean that in the long run it'll be a better NBA city than Seattle. Seattle has been a great NBA city for 41 years...OKC for 2 years...when the novelty wears off I really want to see if it'll be a better market for the NBA. I bet it won't be...
Anyway there is still hope. Next year OKC will have its team for sure but we'll have to wait until the Schultz lawsuit is over. Let's see what happens, I still hope we can overturn this travesty.

Seattle kept 'Sonics' didn't they?
Hopefully it's just a temporary thing and they get an arena arrangement sorted pronto
Bennett...there aren't enough expletives to describe that (Please Use More Appropriate Word)

we do get to keep the name and the colors, but Bennett has made replicas of the championship banners and trophies, as well as sharing the history.

Thats speculation and nothing more.
Kansas has a great basketball fanbase.. Look at the Jayhawks.
Ever been to a Chiefs game? Their fans are very loyal. I wouldn't exactly give them the backseat to Seattle.. Who can't support their oldest team.
and I diss the seahags because im a Cards fan. Eat it

I guess we'll see. But the more I think about it the more I see that the whole situation was born more because of the friendship between Stern and Bennett than because of a real basketball interest. We'll see if the people in OKC after some years of losing will still support the team as the Sonics fans did.

No doubt in my mind that they will.
Kansas City Royals suck year after year, yet their attendance isn't nearly as bad as say, the Marlins, who have a young, winning history.
Baskeball is far more exciting than Baseball.. So i can definitely see it being a staple of the city for years.

Let me first say, that all this talk is only speculation, nobody knows for sure. That being said, your speculation is midguided with analogies that have no correlation whatsoever.
First, the NFL is by far the most supported sport in the U.S.. And it is not even close, the NFL Draft gets similiar ratings to the World Series and the NBA Finals. It is illogical to compare sporting events that have such wide distances in their popularity. If you are a Phoenician, as I am assuming, it will be hard to understand (for the Suns rule all in the Valley of the Sun).
Secondly, you can get lower level season tickets (if they weren't sold out) for less than a grand a seat for the NFL. Compared to the NBA where sitting against the back wall of the arena will cost you as much, due to the amount of games in a season. Compare that to baseball, where a family of four can see a game for under $30. It is much easier financially to support a baseball or football team, and with the economic landscape of today it will be harder than ever to come up with the money to go see a game.
Lastly, Kansas City is 350 miles from OKC. Why exactly are we comparing these markets. Jayhawks are a college team, should Tucson get an NBA franchise since they are so supportive of the Wildcats. Instead of comparing OKC to Kansas or Kansas City, home of the Royals and Chiefs and in Missouri not Kansas (You can say it is close, but we don't say Portland is in Washington even though the Columbia River divides one Metropolitan area), lets use Memphis since they are only a hundred miles further away than Kansas City. We all know how supportive they have been.
Speculate all you want, but looking at the history of the NBA, and there is only one expectation to be made, and that is OKC will die a slow death. Bennet better pray that Kevin Durant is the next ICON of the sport or he will be feeling the results in his wallet.

One more thing, good luck to Seattle, whom I assume will be cheering for OJ Mayo in a few years!

Re: Do Seattlesun a favor everybody
this whole sordid episode drives home one very clear point - The NBA could care less about the fans in any way shape or form. There are ample villains with schultz and the city of seattle politicians being the worst. but at the end of the day, for stern to allow a team of 41 years to be moved like this is nothing short of evil.
it has been flat out sad in this city the last few days, kids are in their rooms crying, grown men are choking up on call-in shows, and just about everyone in this city has sworn off the NBA. i believe them too, they are done and therefore seattle will probably never have another team. stern is a disgrace to the great sport of basketball. i literally wish i'd see a story on espn one day that he died of a heart attack or in a car wreck, i hate him that much. i wish he was dead

Re: Do Seattlesun a favor everybody
Seattle politicians are very liberal-they could care less about actual people. They just sold out the team because they think money solves everything and will probably spend it on pork barrel or other bs government projects. If Obama gets elected president, a lot of cities will have **** like this happen. But anyways, really sorry to everyone from Seattle. Stern is an awful commissioner. All the higher-uppers in the league office run the NBA like it's the mob. Do all this crap illegal stuff on the inside and try to appear completely legitimate on the outside (even though they threaten Van Gundy for saying bad stuff about the league sometimes.) We, the people should have a say in how this league is run, not croney politicians, lawyers, and plain villains like Stern. Even teams like the Bulls, Clippers, or any major market team (except Stern's precious NYC) have a chance of being ripped away from them and moved to maybe Las Vegas or Omaha. Stern should be rotting in a lonely prison cell for stealing teams away from loyal fans and fixing games so his precious (insert major market team here/Spurs) would win.
