NBA Salary List?

Post#1 » by The Main Event » Thu Jul 3, 2008 7:15 pm

How in the hell does Lebron only have the 32nd second highest salary in the NBA?

I just saw that and my brain exploded. Surely there are teams who would offer him a bigger contract then the one he's getting, no?
Am i missing something?

The max amount a player can earn is based on how long the player has been in the league.

Section 11 should probably clear things up for you.

12. Are there exceptions to the maximum salary?

Yes. In multi-year contracts, only the first season's salary is subject to the maximum (but there are restrictions about how big raises can be from year to year).

For players whose contracts were signed prior to the current CBA (i.e., prior to July, 2005) it is possible for a trade bonus (see question number 83) to to increase the salary above the maximum.

I don't see where infers that maximum salary is positively correlated with the number of years a player has been in the league.

Read your own post. The max is set year-by-year. It's x value of 25% of the cap, until your 7th year when it jumps to 30%.
