I understand what you are saying, but I would counter that playing 4 years at a small school could mean that his ceiling is higher than anyone is anticipating. Look at a guy like Scottie Pippen, who played at a tiny school in a crappy conference, which hid a lot of his potential because there was no true way to gauge his talent against weak opposition.
I'm not saying for a second that Courtney Lee is going to be anything close to Pip, but as much as it is likely he will not improve a great deal beyond what he offers now, there is also the distinct possibility that playing alongside and against the best in the world, night in and night out, could see him flourish. Kevin Martin is a great example that someone has already used.
