Josh, Iggy or Maggette.........
It's looking more and more like we will end up with 1 of these boys if anything.
I'm praying for Josh Smith, Iggy or Maggette to end up a Warrior in our future plans. Josh for the loose defense(and the dunks), Iggy for the ball handling next to Ta(and the dunks) or Maggette for the free throws(and the dunks).
I'm probably leaning towards Josh because of the loose defense and youth. Although Iggy might be a better fit and Maggette might provide some serious offensive help for Tay.

Sign Josh Smith & trade Harrington for Hinrich.
Hinrich/Ellis
Ellis/Belinelli
S. Jax/Randolph
J. Smith/Wright
Beidrens/
That would make the Warriors the best young team in the league, with the ability to knock off any team in the playoffs. They'd probably need to add a low post scorer, but they'd have a solid 8 guys to build around.

I gotta say that I agree with this. I think that Hinrich is actually being vastly underrated now. Don't forget that he put up 16/6/45%/42% 3pt just the year before last. He is paid more than he should be but his salary decreases every year, finishing in 2012 at $8.25M.
Our backcourt defense would probably be a sieve but with Josh Smith, Brandan, and Andris controlling the key I think that we could erase a lot of mistakes.
Does anyone think that Josh Smith can double as a part time SF? His perimeter shot is half decent and he can distribute the ball well (3.4apg). If he could play SF on offense from time to time in order to get Brandan on the court it would be dynamite.
BTW: If we did get Josh we would have to trade S-Jax. Firstly I wouldn't want to see their attitudes next to each other and secondly I think Josh could take a load of SF minutes, combined with Azu and Randolph.

Re: Josh, Iggy or Maggette.........
Hinrich is a 1 who can guard 2s, which is why he would work nice with Monta. J-Smoove would be the perfect 4 in Nelly's system, but he can also definately play some 3. S-Jax would have to be traded down the line, but I would hold off a year or two to let Randolph & Wright develop. S-Jax can D up the other team's best scorer and allow Smith to roam more, where his blocking ability could be very useful.

I'd pass on all 3. Don't want Josh Smith turn into a Kirelenko type contract. A SG like at the Iggy level comes in the draft every year. Same with Magette.

Good post brother! That's as solid as it comes. Portland would be jelous of that youth and abililty. It can seriously happen as long as the good vibes go out there. C'mon people get on board, Imagine Monta Ellis, Josh Smith, Brandon Wright, Anthony Randolph, Andris Biedrins as a young future.
I will do a Josh Smith contract dance to a funky Peas song......

We might even be able to keep Pietrus on? Or Barnes. This is solid. A rebuild that works quickly and not 2-3 yrs from now. Not far fetched either.
I might ring Don..... I'll let ya'll know

Re: Josh, Iggy or Maggette.........
Out of the 3, personally I'd go with Iggy vs Hinrich providing he'd come over for 12 M starting. How much more is that than what Hinrich will be making? Just a few Mil. I think the biggest question between the 2 is, what is it that we want from Monta? Do we want him to be our point (which Iggy complements him very well) or remain at 2 (if we bring in Hinrich, then Monta becomes a permanent 2, although this would alleviate the need for a strong backup as he could still backup Hinrich at the 1).
As fior Smoove, I know there's a lot of people who really like him and I can understand why. But with the aquisition of Randolph and based on what everyone's saying about him, and the fact that you know that Smith is going to be very costly, I think I'd rather invest in a guard who 1) will be cheaper and 2) is really more of what we need with the departure of Baron. There's a good possibility that Brandan will be able to do more or less what Smith would do for us and perhaps even better as I think 1) he's smarter than Smith, and 2) potentially a better shooter. Randolph just enhances that. BWright + Randoplh > Smoove and because they are both on rookie contracts, and they will be much cheaper than he is.
If we pick up Smoove then one or both of Wright and Randolph will likely have to go (probably via S & T to Atlanta). If we can get both either Hinrich or Iggy and Smoove for the right price, it would be tough to turn down, but if we have to overpay for any of them, then I'm content to stick with what we have, save our pennies and be ready to moke our free agent moves in 2010 all the while giving all this promising youth we have the opportunity to play and gain experience so when we do tap the FA market, we will be poised to make a serious run. I want to see what these youngsters we have can do.

I want Monta running the point. I'm not really big on adding Hinrich because you need a Big PG who can defend if your going keep Monta at SG.

Absolutely. The key is that ATL is a bit reluctant to spend and the Sixers are not. Philly will match. We'd need to go full bore to get Smith. A "moderate" offer and they do match-party over.apcoxy wrote:Eleutherios wrote:iggy

Maggette is probably the next option as a UFA.
The Brand bid wasn't a fast no,but nobody can sign anything yet,so he's got no reason to rush...though it has to have the Clips pretty bent. Brand is thinking it over (does money talk? No...it SWEARS.

Warriors are in the driver's sit. They do not want to trade any youngsters away.
All Mully have to do is offer enough that Josh Smith is comfortable with.... say $12Mil starting. And if Atlanta matches, oh well. Go ahead and we win for the next few years with Atlanta being way way over the cap. Then we can go after Josh Childress without Atlanta fight back.
Mully can do that to Iggy next. Then Philly will have to match and their cap will be effected in the FA market some.
Mully is going to be playing Santa Claus this summer for most of the RFA this off season....

I'd say let Smoove go to Phily (rather do that than overpay), then we swoop in on Iggy (good chance if Phily grabs an overpriced Smoove, they'll let Iggy walk). This lowers the price on Iggy (Philly won't be able or willing to match or go max deal) and since there are probably no other suitors out there who will be able to compete with us due to our excellent cap situation, we pick him up for a decent price. As much as I see the value of Smoove, I'm very content with our young talented big men in Wright and Randolph and prefer to strengthen ourselves in other areas (namely at the guard position as we will have a big hole to fill in trying to make up for the loss of Baron). The acquisition of Hendrix is a big help and we still have Al (at this point) so I feel that the Forward positions will be adequately covered. Not to mention we'll still have Jack to go along with Belinelli to go with Barnes and even Pietrus which could be cheap solutions to our needs at the small Forward in addition to available FAs.

If Philly got Smoove, they will certainly sign Iggy. That is their play from the start.
The Mully should do is attack Iggy first. Once Philly have to match, they cannot go after Smoove.

If Mullin offered Smoove a deal starting at $12 million, I'd think he fell off the wagon for the first time since he woke up and realized he committed over $80 million to Foyle and Fisher.
Not sure who made the Kirilenko comparison, but I think that's spot on. As much as I love watching the kid play, I get the feeling that whomever ends up with him will have a major case of buyer's remorse in a couple of years for the price they pay. I'm not saying don't ge after him, but don't offer more than 5 years $55 - $60 million, or else you'll be sorely dissappointed. And I'd say there's a 95% chance ATL matches that deal.
