Re: Most One-sided Trade in Recent History
The Kobe-Vlade deal looks bad but Kobe only wanted to play for the Lakers so it really wasn't a trade for Kobe but for the 13th pick. Vlade was productive for Charlotte and they needed a center badly after they traded Mourning. Back then there was no RFA either (rookies signed 3 year contracts and then became UFA), so Kobe would have probably left after 3 years or demanded a trade like Steve Francis did.
Butler for Brown was a bad deal, I agree.
Gasol for whatever the Lakers gave was also a bad deal, but the Grizzlies needed to rebuild and if Marc Gasol lives up to expectations, the deal won't look so bad. It's still too early to tell.
Garnett for Jefferson was a good deal for Minnesota. They weren't going to win a title with KG, so getting a young 20/10 big to replace him was more than they could ask for.
Thorpe for Darko looked like a bad deal, but Darko ended up in Memphis anyway so I guess it doesn't matter.
Griffin for 3 picks was a really bad deal for Houston. Really bad.
Nowitzki for Traylor.. OMG
Hill for Wallace, Atkins wasn't really a deal. Hill agreed to sign with Orlando as a FA and then Wallace and Atkins who were also FA agreed to sign with Detroit and in order to give them more money, the two teams agreed to a deal. I'm not sure why you're including Billups as he signed with Detroit two years later.
Roy for Foye looks really bad right now.
Brand for Chandler wasn't a bad deal at all. Chandler as he proved in NO is a pretty good player and an important piece for any team that wants to be a contender.

The Vince Carter trade to NJ has to be up there . Has anything that has been traded to Toronto amounted into anything decent ?
Weren't the guys Toronto used the two picks on not Graham and Humphries ?

Re: Most One-sided Trade in Recent History
this one beats all of those.....In 1980, the Boston Celtics traded their 2-first round picks (the 1st overall - which was used to draft Joe Barry Carroll, and the 13th overall - which became Rickey Brown) to the Golden State Warriors for Robert Parish and the Warriors' 3rd overall pick (which the Celtics used to pick Kevin McHale........thats 2 HOF players for 1 guy who was an ave player and another who didnt do anything

If the Bulls picked studs like Roy over Free Money(TyThomas) then that Curry, and Antonio Davis for Tim Thomas, Mike Sweetney, Jermaine Jackson and an unprotected draft pick with the possibility of swapping picks the following year would be up there.

Re: Most One-sided Trade in Recent History
For me, it's either:
Butler for Kwame
Gasol for Kwame/Javaris
Of course Kwame is in on both deals! But these two stand out as clearly lopsided from the day they were made. Most of the list involve a budding star in some way, so there's naturally a risk involved. Or if you look at a trade like Otis Thorpe, at the time it was made no one could have anticipated the future pick would turn into #2 in a strong draft.
Rare are those trades when every fan out there realizes it's lopsided the day it is made.

You can't compare trades like this. The ones that happened with the "rights to" were players who NO ONE knew how good they were, or how they were going to turn out. They just ended up being bad judgement calls.
The Gasol trade, memphis KNEW they were getting crap in return for an all-star calibre player. Which makes it the worst by far.

No one says Grizzles #2 for Thorpe? The Grizzles could have had Anthony, Bosh, or Wade with that.
My how the Grizzles overestimated at how good they would be.

Bingo.
Or else you could say Tmac traded for 1 first round pick (Michael Bradley?).

Just if you look at the Stat Sheet from last year and not at the Nets Games . We've been trying to trade him for years now . No luck .
We essentially got back a Top Lottery and a Expiring right where we need it . Thats ok value.
For an overpaid 3rd option with 3 years of contract.
And i like RJ but thats what he is.
