According to various articles on Netsdaily.com, it is said that we are pursuing Nocioni. This is horrible. He has 5 years left on his contract getting paid 8mill a year. This just doesn't make sense with our current plans.

You trade away our best player for peanuts in order to create some cap flexibility in 2010 and get someone you claim has great upside (I predict a soft scrub but whatever) fine I get it you wanna rebuild towards some fantasy that Lebron James will come to the rescue in 2010 I really disagree with that approach but at least the time got some direction.
Now you wanna bring in an aging role player with a 6 year contract?

You might have seen the Nets’ recent reported interest in Andres Nocioni. Let's say, they’ve revisited talks.

I wrote in January that the Nets and Bulls had talked about a deal involving Nocioni for mostly guys in their last years of deals in large part because Chicago wanted cap space for Luol Deng and Ben Gordon. (Most people shot down the story).

Two sources with ties to the Nets confirmed they talked to the Bulls during the season. I also heard they had some talks before the draft as well.

Sources close to both teams said the Bulls are trying to figure out their roster and what they’re going to do. But it remains a possibility that the Nets and Bulls could make a deal involving Nocioni.

He’s a good shooter, competes, plays hard, rebounds and is feisty on the defensive end. He is the type of player Frank would like, no doubt.

My guess is if something gets done the Bulls may want a Stromile Swift involved since he’s in the last year of his deal. It may hurt the Nets’ flexibility, but it would improve them. My guess also is that the Nets aren’t the only team interested in Nocioni.

There's your mistake .


RJ proved not worthy to be a best player on a team like he was in flashed last year and his contract is just way too big . RJ is at his best as a third option but his contract really is that of a good 2nd option. We neeeded to trade that contract for something.

Look we've been trying to trade RJ for years now and never really could anything for him . His value just wasn't that high . 3 years of overpaying an 3rd option really wasn't that popular out there.

The only problem is that cap-wise the Nets would have to do another cap-clearing move (probably by trading VC) if they really wanted to throw an offer at LBJ in 2010 as Nocioni's contract really reduces the amount of money the Nets can throw at LBJ.

Well the best option for aquiring a bigtime FA is a S&T anyway. For everybody , his old team , the player and the new team ( so they don't need to gut them too much before the signing ) .

Let's say we have like 12-13 Million of Capspace , then send the Cavs worth something like 5 Million back ( 2 rookie salaries for example , Picks whatever ) and we could offer a contract worth Lets say 18 Million per starting with 10% raises . Only S&T can have that big raises btw the max raise for a normal FA signing is 8% .

With all the assets we should have we should be able to make a splash in the FA market in 2010 be it Lebron or whoever.

The FO plan should be for these two year :

- collect as many assets as possible
- still be halfway decent because there's nobody coming to attrocious team
- and have a decent amount of Capspace

If we manage to do that then the chance of somebody coming is pretty high.

Getting Noc does reduce money Nets have available in 2010 - but it's not like it's a great amount. Nets can only offer a certain amount in 2010 to LBJ but having Nocioni type salary on the team should not make a difference,

Besides, if Nets are LeBron's team of choice, he can easily fit his salary into the available cap space - even if it is below what another team can offer. After all, salary would not be LeBron's primary concern.
