Me liking the Battier trade Is my opinion. Rudy Gay isnt nothing special.

Isn't "anything" special, not nothing.

And yes he is special, his 2nd year in the league he elevated his game, getting Battier was the right thing to do, but not by giving up Gay, that wasn't the best execution.

We wouldnt have had homecourt if we didnt have Battier in Gay's rookie season. He disappears in games.

Yeah....yeah that really did wonders for us. And Battier shooting 28% in that series really helped us get past the first round. Gay would have been a task for the Jazz to guard IMO, creating double teams, and giving us a guy that can create his own shot. I love Battier, but it wasn't wise giving up Gay for him.

No he wouldnt. AK47 would have had him on lock. Gay's rookie season was worst than Battier's seson that year IMO.

We wouldnt have gotten Battier without giving up Gay.

You mean...Gay's rookie season was worse (not worst) than Battier's season?

Well that was Gay's rookie season, Battier was a 5 yr pro at the time. Gay since then has molded into quite a player, and is only going to continue to get better. And if I knew he was going to be special his 2nd yr in the league then I would have kept him. I mean I would have kept him regardless but the scouting report was VERY wrong on him. Athletic, big, strong, quick, can create his own shot, and rebound, I think he would have been perfect.

Oh and see for yourself...

His production in the beginning of the season was very low due to an INJURY, after he was back the 2nd half of the season he was playing amazing as a bench player, averaging double figures in the 2nd half.

Also yes Battier was very well attainable IMO besides giving up Gay, not then and there, but I'm pretty sure we could have gotten him throughout the season. The Grizzlies were still playoff contenders that year if you remember, but Gasol got injured and all hopes faded away.

Battiers stock is pretty high right now as he had a very good year last year so a lot of teams that need a defender would be interested in him like Orlando for example. You could use Battier, Head, Jackson and even Brooks or picks to get a 3rd scorer then?

As for Hinrich he could be got as a bit of a bargain as he had a bit of a crappy year last year which would hopefully turn around. Heo does create shots for teammates and is a pure point guard which would be great. he is also a very good free throw shooter which the Rockets seem to lack which is another plus, we would have to assume that he was just in a bit of a funk last year which would be the only risk (the fact he might not get out of it)

But hey what do I know its only my second post :D :D

Welcome aboard. It's good to see that we have some Rockets fans in Europe.

Even if Posey signs with our team, I don't think trading Battier should an option. In my opinion, our defense is stable with Battier; so there's no need to change that. Posey will come off the bench as our SG/SF and provide depth in that rotation.

Yes.
I think you have seen the Celtics 3-men rotation: Allen, Pierce and Posey.
Sometimes Posey replaced Allen. He can definitely play the SG and can guard most SGs.

In the other Posey thread I mentioned that he and Tariq Abdul Wahad both played the 2 and 3.

EDIT: For those of you with a bad memory, that was when Posey was in Denver.

If thats who we get at the backup 2/3 , we better get a starting pg who can score and really create his own shot and for others.
Otherwise it will just be another 1st round exit.

IMO he and Battier are the same , we need a backup 2/3 that can create and can get to the basket a lot.
Shooting is a plus so he can fit in better with Yao and T-Mac.

James Posey doesn't cover our weaknesses , he helps but imo with only him we are still 1st round exit.

Plus if we get him we can't sign Carl , I would rather have Landry.

And btw all the Gay -Battier comparisons should stop.
We didn't trade Gay for Battier , we traded our pick.
Memphis told us to get Rudy Gay for them , if they trade hadn't gone down we would have drafted Sefolosha.

Word.

Oh, and I'd prefer Landry too.
