Does anyone expect Marc Gasol to play on the summer league squad?!? It would be nice to see him in action with our young "core!"

Not a chance. He'll be working with the Spanish National team prepping for the upcoming Olympics.

I'm also very interested in seeing what PJ Tucker and Malick Badiane bring to the table.

Yes, PJ Tucker had an outstanding season overseas, leading his team past the legendary Maccabi Tel Aviv for the first non-Maccabi Israeli title in a while.

I wish the Grizz would have jumped on my bandwagon and put my man Chris Daniels on our summer league roster. Also, Reggie Williams is a complete steal who could probably make the roster.

If we had put either those aforementioned guys on our roster, the Grizz could have redeemed themselves in my mind.

What a finish by Mayo. With about 28 secs left in the 2nd quarter, Mayo went up on a fast break and dunked while getting fouled!

Mayo and Arthur look really good, especially Mayo. He's going to be an exciting to player to watch this coming. So what's the Grizz starting lineup next season. It'd be cool if 3 rookies start. :)

Mike Conley
OJ Mayo
Rudy Gay
Darrell Arthur
Marc Gasol

Looks really good for the future.

Mayo was pretty solid today, except for those turnover but it was only his first game. He had a solid stat line of 15-3-5 today.

Arthur did well to, but needs to get in the paint more, he had too many fouls (10 fouls) and needs to rebound better, it wasn't just him not getting the ball in time but his awareness for rebounding was just bad. Arthur was also the starting center during the game apparently, but he had a great game out to the 3-point line.

Conley has some amazing moves but couldn't finish which was a waste of effort on the moves. I look to see them only get better and Gasol would have helped so much today...IMO they would have been unstoppable with him on the court...Imagine a grizzlies summer league team of:

C-Gasol
PF-Arthur
SF-Mayo
SG-Crittenton
PG-Conley

BTW here is the Mayo dunk from the game...

I've read from the link that Mayo got 15pts in his debut, but had 8TOs' in the game. Ouch on that. Darrell Arthur led the team with 18pts in the win.

Just a caution. Don't read much into Arthurs summer league performance. Big men traditionally don't stack up as well as guards and small forwards. It's a wide open run and gun league and players look to showcase themselves rather than play team posession ball and work it inside. It's usually an open alley from the outside to the hoop and power forwards and centers are forced to contend with players on the full run coming at them. And with the rule of no foul outs they simple put the body on them at every opportunity so the high number of fouls isn't a great concern.

It's very tough to gauge a player based simply on his play in the summer league.

offensively though Arthur looked great as he could hit anything out to 3 point land. He was all over,, the paint, 15 feet, 20 feet, 3point...he from what I saw he looked like a taller Marion out there(minus the rebounds). I wont jump to any conclusions from one game but I really like what I see from Arthur. If he can improve his rebounding a bit I would look for him to start at PF by Christmas.

I took away two things from tonight's SL game besides Mayo's 26pts.

1) Mayo has an amazing ability to make difficult shots look easy. I think only LeBron, Kobe, and Jordan may have been better. I am not comparing his talent to those guys, just his ability to make difficult shots look easy.

2) Badiane can run the floor very well, and I think he will have a spot on the roster come pre-season.

and that the refs were horrible (both ways)!
