What team would you rather have for the next 3 years .....

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Thu Jul 3, 2008 4:05 pm

Ok I did this in the Bulls forum, but I want to see how other posters view things as well.

What team would you rather have for the next 3 years in place of your team?

Let's say you had to switch your current team with any one of these teams in the league for the next 3 years, which team would you want to have and why?

NOTE #1: This includes the entire team with coaching staff. Just substitute our team with one of these teams below, which team would you want to be our team for the next 3 years?
You could have the team you think should win it all or a sleeper or one that has a bright future.

NOTE #2: If you are a Lakers fan, don't vote for the Lakers, if you are a Celtics fan don't vote for the Celtics, if you are a fan of the Rockets, don't vote for the Rockets, etc.
Simply put if you are a fan of any of the below teams, vote for another team you would like to replace your current team with.

Just imagine your team is not any good and you had to pick one of the below teams.

Just curious on what team most fans would prefer and if you like the pressure of
being on a team that is expected to win it all or one that is good and ends up winning it all.

Utah
PG Deron Williams
SG Ronnie Brewer
SF AK-47
PF Boozer
C Okur

New Orleans
PG Chris Paul
SG Mo Pete
SF Peja
PF David West
C Tyson Chandler

Dallas
PG Kidd
SG Stackhouse
SF Howard
PF Dirk
C Diop/Dampier

Denver
PG Carter
SG Iverson
SF Melo
PF K-mart
C Camby

Rockets
PG Rafer
SG T-mac
SF Battier
PF Scola
C Yao

Lakers
PG Fisher
SG Kobe
SF Odom
PF Gasol
C Bynum

Spurs
PG Parker
SG Manu
SF Bowen
PF Duncan
C Thomas

Celtics
PG Rondo
SG Allen
SF Pierce
PF Garnett
C Perkins

Magic
PG Nelson
SG Evans
SF Hedo
PF Lewis
C Dwight

Blazers
PG Blake
SG Roy
SF Outlaw
PF Aldridge
C Oden

Also how would you rank them in the order of preference of what you would like the best to the worst.

NOTE #3: Just assume every team is completely healthy.

NOTE #4: I know this is weird but try to play along.

For the next 3 years? well I'd say the Celtics. The trio have about a good 3-5 years left in them IMO to still win championships. And if they keep hustling, playing the same defense I wouldn't see why not they wouldn't win another. For the next 3 years I'll take the Celtics, but after the 3 years are up, give me the Blazers easily.

Celtics easily. They are coming off a championship season so the chemistry is there to win one another 3 years. Assuming if they stay healthy. But from 3 years and beyond I will have to go with the Blazers. They are scary good.

1. Jazz
2. Hornets
3. Rockets
4. Spurs
5. Celtics
6. Magic
7. Lakers
8. Mavericks
9. Nuggets

Blazers disqualified

I'm taking into account whether each team is headed up or down, how entertaining I find them, and whether I like or dislike the players and coaches.

I am going to pull a denny green with portland...If you want to crown them...then crown their a$$, but lets wait until they make the playoffs first.

I would say the lakers for the next 3 years. they are younger than the celtics.

What's with all the votes for Portland? I'm a huge Blazer fan, but they won't be contenders until at least 3 years.

Celtics, Lakers, and maybe the Hornets are the only good choices for the next 3 years.

For the next three years? Boston, I'd think.

In terms of who I'd prefer overall? New Orleans, Utah or Portland, they all look really promising over the next half-decade or more.

I would have voted for PDX but considering they are my team I will go with second best up and coming team in NO. CP3 is absolutely amazing to watch and combined with West and Chandler things really open up for him to do magic. I only see that team improving over the next 3 years.

Boston still has at least 2 good seasons left and they are a fun team to watch and would be number one but it might be a little depressing watching that team fade.

In order...

1. NO - CP3 is my favorite PG. After they took the Spurs to the brink last season they are my second favorite team at this point.
2. Magic - Oden - Howard matchups will be fun if Greg stays healthy. They would be higher if they had anyone other than Howard to keep me entertained. Lewis is a overpaid scorer.
3. BOS - They already won one. I see them competing for a couple of years but as those guys start to decline its going to be frustrating. I have doubts they can get solid players around the big three due to salary limitations.
4. Utah - Deron Williams is amazing but he will not be such a force if Boozer leaves after this season.
5. Lakers - "Kleenex" Brand "Ultra Soft" Need I say more....no wait...Kobe.

How can the Blazers be winning? That's insane.

I think most fans prefer to watch a team after the tear-down and rebuild phases, not during.

Explain to me how the pistons are currently "Tearing Down and Rebuilding" ?

My vote goes to Portland by the way....Roy Oden and Aldridge are awesome but add in Rudy Fernandez and Jerryd Bayless...wow...

Well, they are no longer good enough to get out of the Eastern Conference anymore despite doing well in the regular season, they're aging (and five years from their title), they just fired their coach, and they have a few young pieces but not enough to sustain the high level of play over the next three years that they had when they were a favorite. By the end of year three, they look like a classic case of a team going from a sustained competitive plateau to a .500 team that is frustrating to watch. Realizing this, Dumars has put essentially the entire team on the block. He may not make the trades this offseason, but you can bet that if the PIstons don't come out of the blocks at a torrid pace to start next season that they will be one of the most active teams at the trade deadline as they blow up the current roster and try to get value out of the individual players that they have before it is too late.

Are the Blazers supposed to be title contenders right away? I feel like they have 1 more year to gel, another year after that to get their feet wet, and then maybe in the 3rd they can win.

Outside of that you have the Celtics, who have already won, and the Lakers who just got their feet wet. Both are in more advanced stages than the Blazers. Same goes for NO.

Even though I hate their owner I went with the Hornets. They have great balance on that team and they're fun to watch.

As a Blazer fan I'm a bit puzzled by the votes for us. While we'll be fun to watch and optimism will prevail I doubt we get out the 2nd round of the playoffs before the third year. Any talk of a championship will have to mean a lot of factors will have to work out.
