Sixers interested in Krstic?

Post#1 » by kamaze » Sun Jul 6, 2008 3:53 am

The Sixers have courted Josh Smith and Josh Childress but are also considering making offers to unrestricted free agent Corey Maggette and restricted free agents Golden State's Andris Biedrins and New Jersey's Nenad Krstic.

Would you guys be ok w/ Willie Green coming back in a sign and trade?

I'm not a big Willie Green fan, what I wouldn't mind though would be:

Nets Trade:
Nenad Krstic

Sixers Trade:
Rodney Carney
Calvin Booth (Salary filler, whom the Nets could buy out)
Cash (Enough to buy out Booth)

How high are the Sixers on Carney anyway? I mean the way I see it is that Thaddeus Young is a clear upgrade over him so the Sixers don't have that much of a need for Carney...

(Under this proposed sign and trade the maximum that the Nets would sign and trade Krstic for would be $4.3 million, now given 10 percent raises and assuming he would receive a reasonable 3 year contract Krstic would be paid:

2008-2009: $4,300,000
2009-2010: $4,751,500
2010-2011: $5,203,000

Not bad...)

With the cap room Philly has, odds are they'd just sign him outright. I wouldn't take Willie Green and his contract for free.

If the Sixers are desperate to save enough cap room for a second free agent signing and/or are afraid of the Nets matching, I'd could possibly see a Nenad for Carney trade making sense for both sides.

Philly has the cap space for him. Obviously, no one is offering him anything significant right now, but once the big free agents are off the market (Brand, Josh), and the Sixers know exactly how much they have to spend, I expect them to make an offer to Krstic and for him to sign outright.

He knows his days in jersey is numbered with the arrival of the two first round picks, Sean/Boone, Yi, and also that NJ has their eyes on 2010.

He's not one of my favorites just don't want to see Krstic go w/o the team getting something back.
That I'd love but there's no way they're trading Carney for Krstic.
