JR Smith
As we all know JR is a restricted free agent
I haven't heard JR's name much because of all the Carmelo talk, but my question is do the Nuggets plan to resign him or will they let him go? I sure hope not.
From what I’ve read it seems as if the Nuggets do plan to resign him, but I haven't heard much about him...

Re: JR Smith
They will resign him or match any offer is my best guess. Most likely will get around the mid level exception.

what trips me out about this organization is how they wont play the cat significant minutes but still act like he's the future. do the kid a favor and cut him loose if they arent going to play him.

i'm sure the FO wants him to play significant minutes...
but George Karl gets first priority remember?
hence why Kleiza probably has more trade value then Melo on this team.

hah, seriously. karl would never trade kleiza but is trying his best to get rid of melo. its pretty obvious that he is already completely senile.

with your cap situation (trading the 1st rd pick due to the luxury tax), i find it hard to believe you guys match the MLE that someone will offer jr smith

They traded the pick to have a "loaded gun" for future trades.
There is no way the Nuggets won't match the MLE for JR. The Denver FO just isn't that dumb.

Re: JR Smith
They replayed the interview of Warkentien on the fan from yesterday, and although the guy is a complete tool who is going to be a PR nightmare for the Nuggets if they keep letting him speak publicly, he did imply pretty clearly that they're making the qualifying offer today and will match. Their failure to match would probably provoke me to not re-up my tickets, and many others probably feel the same way. I'm sure they're aware of how that might be received by fans and ticket holders.

It is funny how many people were trash talking JR less then a year ago, and now these same people are acting like the guy is too good for the Nuggets. I do not see them letting JR go for any reason, in fact I think it is his growth that will allow the Nuggets to trade AI for the other pieces they need.

Ain't that the truth. No fan from another team wanted anything to do with JR during this past season. What a difference a playoff series makes.

Well it would be more accurate to say that it wasn't just one playoff series, it was the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs.

alot of people missed his developement the second half of the season that weren't watching the Nuggets. He could become one of the better players in the league if he keeps improving the way he was at the end of the year.

And if he can play smart as well (like not jacking up 3's 5 feet behind the line), he's a more than an average starter in the NBA

anything new on j.r. - it makes me nervous that there is not a single discussion out there about him.

Re: JR Smith
A smart GM would unexpectedly sign JR Smith to an offer sheet that comes in as a bargain compared to what Igoudala or Ben Gordon were seeking; but just make the offer for less years. It seems free agents are seeing that two year deals are being offered without shame in light of that highly desired free agent class LeBron & Wade.

Re: JR Smith
Philadelphia,Golden State, San Antonio, could have come up with a two year offer and put it out there already to get the 7 day clock ticking to first see if JR would look to accept it as an opportunity to get a healthy salary increase, but also as a chance to significantly increase his own value going into free agency again that same year many teams are trying to have plenty of cap space. JR might be able to be convinced on the idea of accepting a two year offer sheet for more than mid-level especially if it were front loaded, which GS & Philadelphia Should be able to do. ,
