Ellis is great depending on his contract.
Cavs and Knicks keep on being brought up because one place is NY and the others has over 20 million in expiring contracts, is a playoff team, and a need everywhere outside of SF.
Idk if I'd ever want Ellis as the franchise though. Allen Iverson never won a ring and I don't see Ellis style translating to being any more effective then AIs was.

Re: monta ellis sweepstakes
He would be an idiot to take a one year deal. The Warriors have dumped starting backcourt players in consecutive offseasons (Richardson and now Davis). There is nobody else in the Warriors backcourt to protect him now, and I think a lot of deficiencies in his game will come to light. Particularly his streaky shooting. He will get an offer for more than he's worth and resign with the Warriors, since they have a huge hole at the guard spots and Golden State is flush with cash after Baron opted out. If he stays one season he will be exposed, and teams won't be willing to overpay him because they'll realize he's largely a product of Nellieball. I would be just as happy with my team getting Leandro Barbosa for half the price.

As a player, I don't think many are denying that he would be a great player wherever he goes--just that the Warrior's system inflates his stats.
