Official Nets Summer League Thread

Post#1 » by Rich Rane » Mon Jul 7, 2008 11:10 pm

Our roster:

NEW JERSEY NETS
No. Player Pos. Ht. Wt. Birthdate Last Team/College
13 Maurice Ager G 6-5 202 2/9/84 Michigan State
20 Ryan Anderson F 6-10 240 5/6/88 California
26 Jamar Butler G 6-1 185 9/27/85 Ohio State
31 Jaycee Carroll G 6-2 175 4/16/83 Utah State
22 Will Conroy G 6-2 195 12/8/82 Washington
8 Chris Douglas-Roberts G 6-7 200 1/8/87 Memphis
43 Brian Hamilton F 6-6 200 5/14/82 Louisiana-Lafayette
30 Julius Hodge G 6-7 210 11/18/83 NC State
11 Brook Lopez C 7-0 260 4/1/88 Stanford
40 Marcus Slaughter F 6-9 228 3/18/85 San Diego State
10 Yuta Tabuse G 5-9 175 10/5/80 BYU-Hawaii
28 Donnell Taylor G 6-5 193 7/26/82 Alabama-Birm
45 Anthony Tolliver F 6-8 240 6/1/85 Creighton
51 Sean Williams F/C 6-10 235 9/13/86 Boston College

Those in bold are guaranteed a roster spot (CDR hasn't signed a contract yet, has he?). Once again, it's never good to judge a player by his first year or two in the league, nevertheless a summer league game. With that said, I'm looking forward to seeing our young guys in action. Anyone else feel Marcus Williams should be playing?

If Yuta Tabuse was 5 inches taller, he'd probably be a good 3rd stringer for an nba team

This team desperately needs someone who can perform a post entry pass. Sean Williams showed a couple good moves the two times he got his hands on the ball but the entire frontcourt besides Anderson (because he plays on the perimeter) is being phased out by the guards.

Caroll looks like an instinctive scorer but is not even close to being a PG.

CDR looks very good all around except when isolated at the top of the key. Once he turned it over on an awful cross-over attempt and another time he chucked up a 3 as the shot clock ran out. His mid-range game and bball IQ have been money however.

Tabuse is fun to watch and he really improves the ball movement.

Anderson has played smart and it looks like he can play SF like Scalabrine. He has a nice shot and a he isn't afraid to play physical.

Lopez has looked good on D. He missed two jumpers but had good form. Was denied twice on post entries.

Lopez just had a couple nice back to the basket post moves turning over his left shoulder. He also hit a long range jumper. CDR got into the land and hit a short shot. Sean with a couple blocks.

Sean Williams has been able to get his jumper off in the post over either shoulder but doesn't look like he knows exactly how to use it. The work he's done with Kiki shows. He said he was working on no wasting movement and that showed both offensively and defensively where he had much better positioning.

I hate these two idiot commentators, rather talk about off topic crap 3/4's of the game instead of doing pbp

I've read reports that he was the best pure shooter in this years draft. Problem is just he's so short .

could be too short in order to be great, but there is a placein the league for guys like him. Kerr, Paxon, Hodges, etc.

I've only seen the second half - he hasn't done much in the second half. He did have a nice little one handed dunk in traffic, however.
