Complete this hypothetical trade (GSW/CHA)

Post#1 » by dprodigy19 » Mon Jul 7, 2008 6:49 pm

Hey guys,

I just crossposted this over on the Bobcats board http://www.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=822956#p16896023 and wanted to get an aggregate Dubs fans' opinion as well.

So he's my idea:
Crash, Felton, and _______ (bad contract?) for B. Wright, Al Harrington, 2009 1st rounder, and _________

Who would be fair and logical players to fit in those blanks?

I don't see Wallace as having the kind of value where we would be adding a piece and taking back a bad contract in addition to what you've started with; which is a deal I don't like already.

Bobcats Fan , hows all the Warriors fans doing.
Ive been hearing rumors you guys wanted Felton . He would fit in well thair as far as value i have no idea and hate the thought of losing Felton. I have a feeling you guys will land Brand . That could be the reason Harringtons name keeps coming up for Felton.
IF you guys really want Felton it has to be others involved because the money don't work .
Felton Monta, Jackson Beans and Brand could rule,
What other piece could you guys add to make it fair money wize and good for both teams.
I just added Harrington because if you land Brand hes expendable to you guys .
Thoughts..... Rumor has it you looking for a point and Felts name just keeps coming up .
His numbers 14.5 per game with 7.3 assist

Belinelli could be had, but BW and Randolph are not available for any trade unless guys names are LeBron or Kobe. :D [you know we have to say it,,, ;) ]

There's several problems with this idea.

1) GS would value Felton as a good backup pg, who could occasionally play alongside Monta - but Charlotte could likely get better value from a team looking for a starter.

2) Charlotte now has only 1 pg - and he's a rookie. I assume there's no official rule that Charlotte can't have a backup pg on their roster.

3) Crash doesn't fit that well with GS. Nelson requires (with occasional grudging exceptions for defensive centers) that player shoot. Also, positionally, SG is GS's biggest need, followed by backup PG and backup C.

4) GS values Wright more than you think. Given the poor fit for Crash, and seeing Felton as a backup, I'm not sure GS would do Felton + Crash for Al + Wright with no picks or bad contracts.

There isn't anything we can add to make it fair financially; to make the money work, you guys would need to add something, because Al makes substantially more than Felton. Looking at how your salaries lay out, there are a few guys that would get us in the right ballpark, at which point it is just a question of how you guys view them.

Mohammed - he'd be of some use to us. Is he someone you value, someone you want to dump for $$$ reasons, or someone that just doesn't matter enough to quibble over?
Carroll - if we trade Al, we'd need another shooter, so despite the fact that I think you guys overpaid him, that could make some sense on our side. What is your current thinking on Carroll?
Morrison - I'm not too high on him ever turning into anything at this point, so if you guys are, he probably doesn't make sense. But he's pretty harmless to take on if we're just trying to balance out salaries.
May - he makes less than these other guys, so it might still take some finagling to make that work. If you guys are still optimistic that he's going to be healthy and be useful, we should just never mention him again. If you think he's hopeless, he also is a pretty harmless way to pad out a trade.

Those are pretty much the choices if we're trying to do Felton for Al and tweak salaries to make it legal. Anything beyond that involves sending real value back and forth and making things more complicated.

Wright and Randolph = Carlos Rogers until they prove that they are better than that.

Carlos Rogers = Adonal Foyle without the good side story.

It's official.

from Wikpedia

"Before Carlos made it to the NBA, he offered to donate his kidney to his sister, Rene, who declined the offer so he could achieve his dream of playing in the NBA. His sister received a cadaver kidney, which failed, and she died soon after Carlos was drafted.

Carlos was recently featured on Oprah's Big Give, in which he donated $1,000 and his time to improve playground eqipment for children in Houston, Texas"

He had ton of potential but was always injured.

WTF?! He had a side story?!

Dude was trash on a court. Sorry. Love those fat Midwestern-Southern Methodist Tennesse State City College stats, though. Almost as nice as Colgate.

I need to think about the original. I kind of like G Wallace and Felton. What happens (soon) in free agency may decide what route we go.

AH.....deja vu......I'm remembering the days of yelling "Nellie ,you old dumb bastard, play your big kids,we're gettin' killed inside! Nellie hardly used Rogers and Rozier. Pozier played well in the brief Bob Lanier era then we traded for Felton Spencer under the next coach because we wanted a large stationary piece of furniture. Things really went downhill then.
