Easily Dirk. Dirk is a MVP, PP never came close. PP may not even the best player on the Celtics. In any case, KG+Ray Allen >>> JHo+Terry. Also, Dirk's non-clutchness is hugely overrated, see SA and PHX series 2006 and German national team.

When Dirk's come up short, it hasn't been because he's choked or felt the pressure of what needs to be done (other than a small amount of times), it's the defense that's been played on him. Combined with the offensive drop-off to the rest of the team, when he's not scoring well.

Dirk needs a quality scorer next to him who is factor in the paint. Has never quite had that.

And yeah, Dirk's clutch ability is definitely respectable.

"Paul Pierce

More versatile player, and his impact on the game won't drop off as much when he's not scoring well."

So you would take Shawn Marion over Kobe by this reasoning? With scoring not included, Marion is easily as good a player as Kobe. However, when scoring IS included, Kobe blows Marion away. It's rather unfair to not include the best trait of one of the players, an aspect in which Dirk is still quite a bit better than Pierce imo [Dirk is special, Pierce is not]

I take Dirk just as I always have and always will. To people questioning Dirk's clutchness and ability to win etc. just look at this team:

Dampier
[PF equivalent of Jason Terry]
J Howard
P Pierce
D Harris

That's the Mavs Finals team minus Dirk, plus Pierce. Where the f*ck does that team get to? Exactly nowhere. I doubt we would even make the playoffs with such a line up.

Now look at the Celtics this year if they had Nowitzki instead of Pierce:

K Garnett
D Nowitzki
J Posey
R Allen
R Rondo

Can you see that team NOT get a championship? I don't care how good the Lakers are, they would have been SWEPT against that line-up.

So yeah, I take Dirk.

Well neither Dirk or KG play Center so one of them would probuly move to SF on your situational team. At least KG doesn't like to play Center and voiced it as he has throughout his career earlier this season when Doc put him there during Perk's injury.

Dirk has the bigger potential every night to go off for 30. Still don't understand how SFs can take him out of his game.
