Al Harrington to the Nets?

Post#1 » by thaanswer » Mon Jul 7, 2008 9:14 pm

In a article i read today i heard the warriors are shopping Al Harrington. Also the warriors have shown intrest in Nenad Kristic...what do you think of a proposed trade of

Nets trade:
C Nenad Kristic(4.5 or 5 million S & T)
PG Marcus Williams

Warriors Trade:
F Al Harrington

The warriors have shown intrest in Nenad Kristic and also want to aquire a point guard soo this helps them out.

For the Nets we get a guy that can help us win maybe playin the small foward spot (can he play the sf) and has 2 years left on his contract allowing us more cap room in 2010.

Do you think the Nets and warriors would agree to this trade.

Take Williams out and you'll consider it? This trade would be great for us. We finally get a very good SF who has a big contract that expires in '10. As much as I love Marcus, you have to do this trade. For our backup PG spot we consider to pursue Pargo or Dooling.

PG - Harris/(Pargo or Dooling)
SG - VC/CDR/Ager
SF - Harrington/Simmons
PF - Yi/SWAT/Anderson
C - Boone/Lopez/Stromile

:D I like it a lot.

For close to a month now I've been talking about Al Harrington coming to the Nets. I think it's a solid move. Now we RJ gone, he's a starter caliber 6'10" small forward. We can play him at the 4 some times too. His contract also comes off the books in 2010 so it's a type of guy we'd want all around. I think it'd be a very solid move personally, but that's what I've been saying since June.

Unbelievable. I dont know how much you guys value a weak and soft C/PF but getting Harrington, who can do almost everything and a very versatile player, for Krstic and MWill is a very solid move. I dont like MWill's game and im not willing to see if he's gonna get better. Plus, i dont like to wait if Krstic will regain himself back. In Harrington, it's a sure thing he can play and it's only for two years during the rebuilding time, then when it expires in 2010, the sky's the limit for us.

I agree.

Marcus williams shouldn't be a deal breaker, ever. If we trade for harrington he'd instantly become our most reliable big on the roster. He'd even give us solid minutes at the 3.

I'd jump all over this deal if GS would bite.

Talent wise, it's a good deal. It just depends on what the Nets are looking to do. It seems they still want to make the playoffs, so a deal like this definitely helps.

I'd rather have Nocioni, who plays defense and can shoot the three.

Of course, i guess Harrington and his two year deal fits in better with this load of smoke that bloodsucking cheap skate Ratner and co have been blowing up our butts about 2010.

As much as I think M. Will will be better, this is a no brainer.

I'd be fine with either player. It just comes down to how the nets want to pave their future.

Harrington's shot a higher percentage from three in each of the past two seasons. 8-)

Guys, now that you have signed Jarvis Hayes are you still interested in Harrington? If so, would you consider Williams, Hassell, and the contract of Van Horn for Big Al? This helps thin out your crowded roster.

From the Warriors point of view, I'm proposing this because I believe that Van Horn's $4.3 million salary helps the trade happen (to get the salaries of the two teams within 25% of each other), but the Warriors or whatever team that he is traded to could just waive him and not be on the hook to pay the salary at all. Do you know if this is correct? Thanks.

I'm not sure which Williams you are referring to in this, but to answer your question.
Marcus Williams? Yes
Sean Williams? No

Van Horn if cut before a certain date (I think it's by opening day, but I'm not positive) would not cost a team anything.

If it only took Marcus/Hassel/KVH then sure. Al can play the 3 and 4 and and I'm a fan of him.

Thanks, Prelude. It is Marcus Williams I was referring to as the Warriors need a backup PG. The Van Horn contract was what I was really curious about. I would think that other teams would be after it.

Yeah we're not the greatest trade partners, but we're not the worst either. Both teams probably could get more value for their assets somewhere else.
