I would wager anything that the likes of Booth and Cardinal will remain in street clothes for the whole season. But along with all the crap they have in salary fillers, they are developing a good young core.

First the Love + Miller deal, and now this one. Dude's batting a 1.000 this summer. I didn't expect this from the guy Minny fans call "McFail."

They obviously dont think much of Carney to just give him away on that deal and include a first round pick.

Yeah, this has been up on rumor sites for a few hours. Not sure why it hasn't made it to RealGM.

The Sixers are trying to cut cap to make Brand a bigger offer than the Warriors. The Clippers must be spitting bricks.

For what its worth, our "insider" says its the Utah pick which is heavily protected.

basically the wolves buy a future pick for cash. carney/booth are basically the filler since neither is much on the court.

Carney has some promise. Other than that this is a strictly financial move.

Carney was spoken on the same terms as Gay (by a lot of draft websites) in the 06 draft. He certainly has a lot of potential, and could be a steal for Minny.

The financial move for Philly is a bit surprising. I mean, they're giving up talent for a chance at a big name FA. Unless they have a guarantee of a signing (under the table) by a player like Brand/Smith/Okafor, this could be a major mistake.

I really like Carney, was inconsistent for various reasons in Philly, but showed well several times still... I think he probably gets a consistent oppurtunity with Minny, and should turn out.

Nice trade

the name actually is because of his history of some bad deals (pre-KG trade) and bad signings for role players. now actually post-KG trade he did a great job IMO. and prior to the draft (heck even after we drafted Mayo) many of us minny fans were pretty happy with the latest trades he did. but then the Mayo-Love trade reminded a lot of us why he was called McFail in the 1st place. yes many non-wolves fans and experts say he did a great deal turning Mayo into Love and Miller but considering our need for a superstar while Mayo is said to have to most potential other than Rose and Beasley to become a superstar made it look awful for us in the first days. add it to the fact that we didn't even push for one of their young point guards and the fact that Hoiberg (inofficial co-gm) stated we'd keep Mayo on draft night made it all look really bad for us wolves fans. but a few days after the trade most of us don't think it is such a bad deal. the only issue is defense for us. we need an athletic big man ASAP. if McHale gets one w/o giving up real assets like Jefferson, Foye, Love and Brewer plus maybe Miller and McCants (the latter ones rather likely to be used if he had a trade in mind) I'd really say this offseason is one of the better ones in recent Timberwolves history.

yeah, heavily protected that it could turn out to be a 2nd plus some cash. I wouldn't take too much stock in the pick if it is the Jazz's.

so whats minnesottas current roster and who can be traded? cause i heard that the washington GM might or might not have something in the works with minnesotta. I suspect the current makeup of minnesottas roster is overloaded in some positions.

For Philly I didn't realize this till just a bit ago, but it frees up some room to better their chances of getting bigger FAs

So solid trade for both teams

only if we get our free agent. if it's Kyle Korver+Carney and capspace for Brand, I can handle that.
