The thing about LBJ is he wants money, and thats about it, because if you have LBJ your not going to come short handed in the playoffs or throughout the season. This is the thing on Lebron...

1) If he goes to either Chicago, LA, or NY his Nike contract doubles in profits for him.

He has stated several times he wanted to become the worlds first billionaire, its not going to happen but you know its all about money when he says things like that.

2) the Nets are moving to New York, and the part owner (Jay-Z) is very very very well in touch with LBJ as a friend.

3) The reason the Nets traded Jefferson was supposably to prepare and clear up cap space for that 2010. Now there are rumors they will let Krisitc walk due to his contract..I wouldn't be surprised if Vince Carter is traded anytime soon for expiring. Because they already have a terrific future with that young core, and if you combine it with LBJ, then wow.

Brooklyn Nets: 2012 NBA Champs?

Lebron will almost be a 10 year vet by then... and about 28 years old.

T-mac,Joe Johnson are the big FAs. Ginobli will be 33...
There is a nice group of players who could opt out and become FA's;
LeBron,Wade,Bosh,Dirk,Stoudemire.

Seems like he said just first billionaire athlete, but I'm pretty sure that title belongs to Michael Schumacher and Tiger should beat him to it as well.

it's in the wiretap:

Tracy McGrady is under contract for two more seasons and by the end of the 2010 season, the only definite salary obligation on the books will be the $7.3 million coming to Shane Battier.

Yao has a player's option to play out the 2010-2011 season for just under $17 million, which means the Rockets will have salary-cap room to go in just about any direction they choose.

who would you guys want to build the team around assuming lebron is not possible?

If by 2010 we don't get out of the 1st round here what happens.
T-Mac will be 30 and still be a very good player , he will sign for the vet minimum.
Then we will have cap space to sign a Dwyane Wade or a Lebron or even a Bosh.
Iamgine T-Mac and Yao with one of those stars.

I read that article on Chron.com earlier and it just got my head swimming in stars. The idea of having the cap space to get a Bosh, Wade or James is just unbelievable.

This should put all trade rumors for the Rockets to rest where they take on long-term salary. Battier isn't going anywhere!!!

Seriously now if we don't win a championship until 2010 I can't see why T-Mac won't take the vet minimum.
He already has earned a ton of money in his career and he will still make a ton of money in endorsments , with both T-Mac and Yao I think we can lure one of those big names here.

maybe James will take a pay cut to play next to Yao, say 5 yr $65 million. All we have to do is renounce Yao's bird rights and hopes he takes less

Seemed to have worked well for the Clippers

There is absolutely no **** way that Lebron **** James comes to **** Houston. I guess you can make a case for the others, but people really need to take endorsment deals into account.

I will settle for some up and coming surprise star whose name we barely know or don't know yet.
