who else wants to work for otis smith besides me?

Post#1 » by thaAteam » Wed Jul 9, 2008 12:11 am

the orlando magic just agreed to give pietrus a 30 million dollar contract, just a year after he gave rashard lewis 100 million plus. why outbid urself, no team would have gave pietrus more then three mil a year let alone the full mle and he could have signed lewis to about 15 mil a year, what are the magic thinking?????????????

Duhon gets the full MLE, Arenas gets his 100+ mil, and you come at the Magic when they use their MLE to fill a dire need at the SG spot with someone who can defend and shoot the 3?

Seems to me like you are looking for reasons to complain. We upgraded our 50+ win team and you have nothing but bad things to say about our GM? Interesting....

duhon had starting potential and is a young pg, arenas raped the wizards but pietrus is 26 and has never shown anything, i think he will be a decent player but the full mle, come on now, i guess your going to tell me lewis deserved the money he got too even tho turkoglu is a better player and make 2/3rds less. hey im a mavs fan so the diop signing was terrible too

He was going to get the full MLE or at least close to it, which is the main reason he signed the 1 year tender last offseason....

It isn't the worst MLE signing this year... so it is hard to be too critical of Smith.

jesus christ the haters and hypocrites on this board are amazing

yes we overpaid for rashard

people dont complain when diop and duhon gets it (and i dont think pietrus is getting the FULL mle)

if the spurs signed him for it they'd be like "oh well hes a good fit, they'll make him play solid defense hes a good upgrade over barry"

Common... everyone did...

Anyways... I think it is kinda pointless to offer him less than the MLE. The contract reportly starts at 5.2 compared to the full at 5.6. Honestly what difference does 400K mean?

he signed the one year tender cuz nobody would give him the mle last summer, this year he played less and was injured 3 years 10 mil would be good, nothing more, i understand overpaying, but only when your competing with other teams, no team would have gave lewis or pietrus those contracts or anything close

Really? people made threads about how overpaid he was? Of course they'll talk about it..id say only 20% of players signing actually deserve wat they get

Great signing for the Magic. As a Magic fan I will say Pietrus fills a hole for us. We need a SG who can defend and he will be a good fit.

Yeah, this guy was all about the Wizards last I heard from him. I can understand why he would want to give up on the Wizards, but he should at least cheer for a better team than Orlando.

Theres nothing worse than a person who cheers for teams outside of their hometown. I consider these people below terrorists.

There's nothing wrong with cheering for teams outside their hometown, some people just like to play the devil's advocate, but like you said, he was balls deep into wizards during their (3 day or so) play off run so that's why i'm confused...

I think it's a good move for Orlando.

Don't think he's worth the full mle. But at least Orlando is trying to do something, unlike alot of other tight-wad teams that don't want to spend to try to make their teams better. 24 mill isn't that bad for pietrus, if that's what he got. He's got a lot of potential offensively and is also pretty solid defensively.
