Why does this news all have to come at once? Damn I was prepared for losing Maggette but add that to the sting of essentially losing Elton Brand--- thank the lord I live on the first floor of my apartments!

Why would he go there? If I was CM, I have gone to the Spurs. Perfect fit, and ready to win a Championship for the same money. Sometimes, I don't know what these basketball players are thinking. Maybe he's tired of the warm weather, I dont know?

Money talks, the Spurs only had the MLE to offer him. Good luck to Corey, he didn't deserve the kind of crap he had to put up with from Dunleavy.

Yeah I wish the best for Corey. As for Elton... meh. I'll have to wait to see wtf went on before deciding on who to hate. Elton, or Clippers management.

He's going to a team that will allow him to play freely.

thats also true, but he said he wants to be able to win a championship. but i guess i can say im pretty happy for him since he gets to play in a style where he can jack up shots left and right. but he will also be playing with a bunch of guys that play the same position. corey has the body to be groomed to be an even greater player. he has the tangibles of scoring. he now needs to learn how to pass and play lights out d. i think he would have learned that in san antonio.

There are a couple things Corey was obviously looking for-

1. To play for a winner
2. To start
3. To get paid

Golden State is not a bad team (no worse than the Clippers), except he'll be starting in an offense more conducive to his style of play.

Who knows what length of contract Boston would offer, besides it would be for a backup position anyway. Would you take 3 years at $5 million each to be a backup in Boston (and probably hurt your subsequent contact), or take a 5 year $50 million contract that basically sets you up for life? I mean if you really judge based on your entire life, your family, etc., the answer seems obvious.

All I see is the money being the draw. The Warriors have some mix of Jackson, Azubuike, Barnes and Harrington that play Corey's position so it can't be a guaranteed starting position or playing time.

I think Jackson will play at 3, and Corey starts over any of those other guys especially Barnes (who I like because I'm a UCLA alum but that guy is nuts.)

But that being said, 5 years at $50 million is a significant increase over a MLE.

Heck, I think Corey would've even stayed on the Clips to play for that amount!!!

Eh, after this Brand business, this Maggette deal only warrants a "whatever." I liked Corey as a Clipper, but since I'm bitter, I hope he has a terrible time in Golden State. You know, lose his starting spot, get into it with Nellie...basicially be livin' the same way he was when he was a Clipper.

I'm not even mad at Maggette really. He wasn't in the team's plans after Davis became available. He said he wanted to win and was tired of losing. We knew all along it was all about the money with him. I'm just a little surprised It was the same for that other clown too. :nonono:
