OT - Durant playing summer league

Post#1 » by evildallas » Wed Jul 9, 2008 2:49 am

I just was surprised by this so I wanted to post it. Is this normal or unusual for a full time starter and ROY to play summer league ball?

May only play a game or two? It allows Kevin to gauge his teammates and potential teammates which he can give provide Sam Presti with even more information. I'm under the impression Seattle listens to Kevin and include him (Even if he's only a rookie) to voice his opinion about the future.

its easy to put up 20 a game when you are hoisting up tons of shots on a team with no legitimate scoring option... in my opinion one of the most overrated rookie of the years in recent memory, 43% from the field and under 30% from beyond the arc, he could still really use the work

20 PPG on 43% is pretty good numbers for a rook. I knocked KD a lot last year but he was definetely deserving of ROY with the way he played in the second half of the season. I feel Al deserved it more, but KD was definetely quite impressive to me.

43% from a forward? i guess its not terrible, from someone who was touted as the "4 of the new millennium" on draft day I would expect a little more... and his points per game were drastically enhanced because he played on a young team with no other scorers, 28.8% from three was definitely subpar from what was expected of him

And supposedly they wish to continue the SG experiment this year according to blurbs from their coach.

it sickened me watching the rookie sophomore game.Everytime the ball touched his hands,it never left them.He would always put up some kind of shot. One of the biggest ball hogs i've seen in a while.

Well, the rookie/sophomore game isn't exactly known for team play. It's a chuck-fest.

I wouldn't mind having Horford out there for a couple of games, I'd like to see if he can get the mindset of a top scoring option when he is playing against guys he knows he can take advantage of.

He can do that against most of his teammates.

Thats a pretty good point COB. I would really like to see him out there just getting a mismatch and forcing the issue. During a NBA game I can understand him passing it around- out there is the time to make something happen
