2nd in the Titanic..er Atlantic Divison, whos it gonna be?

Post#1 » by TheRaptor! » Wed Jul 9, 2008 5:49 am

Now that Philly has made a huge move to improve while giving up ZERO to get an allstar player for their Playoff team who game Detroit a huge scare, whos 2nd in the Atlantic Division now?

The raptors on the other hand played 600. ball until the last 6 weeks where Bosh/TJ got injured and never played the level they did at the beginning of the season despite having a easier schedule. TJ lost his starting spot to Calderon and started sulking, the team never got the confidence back and it carried over to the Playoffs.

Heres the starting line up, imo..

Andre Miller < Jose Calderon
Iggy >>>>> Parker
Young = Moon
Brand = Bosh (Depending on Brand health, this can be Bosh's running away)
Dalembert <<<< Jermaine

I say Raptors will be taking the #2 spot but thats just the homer in me talking. What do you think? While Brand may be the better player, O'neal gives us what we lacked last year, Rebounding and Defence.

Jermaine is not that much better than Dalembert. I mean he plays half a season at 13.6ppg 6.7rpg? The only stat that stands out is 2.1bpg. Dalembert got 10.5ppg 10.4rpg and 2.3bpg, and shot much better than Jermaine too. Hell I'd give Dalembert the edge right now.

I'm sure Philly will be number 2 in the Atlantic.

I love how you question Brand's health... but not Jermaine's?!?! All because he's a Raptor. Don't be surprised if he spends half the season watching from the sidelines.

haha.

That should say "Jermaine O'Neal was SIGNIFIICANTLY better than Dalembert." The difference isn't quite so big these days, especially when you consider how often JO is injured.

So to go back to those original rankings...

Andre Miller = Jose Calderon
Andre Iguodala >> Anthony Parker
Thad Young > Jamario Moon
Elton Brand = Chris Bosh
Sam Dalembert < Jermaine O'Neal

Not that any of these individual rankings really mean anything. The Sixers problem is going to stem from them being the worst 3 point shooting team in the league. Hopefully that gets somewhat remedied with some role playing shooters off the bench. That defense is going to be suffocating though.

talent wise, sure. though i'm not so sure i'd go as far as saying significantly, but i'll give it to you anyway.

but with oneals age, inability to stay healthy and actually BE on the court and overall diminishing skill set i'd maybe even give the edge to dalembert now

This is why i hope the knicks suck for the rest of your lifetime.

I question Brand's health and no JOs because he said he choose not to play last year to get healed up and he is as healthy as he was 2 yrs ago, i take his word for it. Anyway, to the other guy, there is no parade, the majority says Philly > Toronto, even on our own board, you were saying?

Is it homer to say that I like our #1 pick and Kapono more then Phily's bench?

Thad Young > Moon? As a player, Moon = Young, I'm not talkin about potential or any of that BS. I doubt Moon is going to be a starter next year, so Kapono > Young, I expect Kapono to do what he did in the playoffs all season long next year.

Calderon > Andre, no question. The guy can't shoot from outside 20 ft.

Calderon's stats - 30.3 MPG 11.2 PPG 8.3 APG 0.519FG% 0.908 FT% 0.429 3P%
Miller's stats - 36.8 MPG 17 PPG 6.9 AGP 0.492 FG% 0.772 FT% 0.088 3P%

Oh and don't let Miller's PPG fool you, he takes 14 shots per game while Calderon takes 8.6 shots per game.

Did I mention how he had to share PG duties with TJ Ford? Calderon > Miller and it ain't even close.

I would actually say Miller = Calderon right now. Dre is very underrated for some reason. Fact is, he is a very solid pg and quite a general running the point. As good of a season as you might think Calderon had, he still needs to improve in a lot of areas of his game in order for me to outright put him over Miller. Mostly on the defensive end.

The Raptors were never a good defensive team, but Andre is simply not that great. I just don't see it.

Defense, I'll give him that, but Scoring? Nope (not as efficient as calderon) passing? (not as good as calderon).

Calderon had to share minutes with Ford and still had a great season, he was almost voted into the allstar game last year despite being backup to Ford.

We these past 2 seasons have called Andre Miller the ping pong ball killer.
