What If Kobe Were A Trail Blazer?

Post#1 » by BballFanAddict » Wed Jul 9, 2008 5:56 am

This is obviously completley hypothetical, as I see Kobe as a Laker for life, and I have despised him for years, so it isnt as though I want him a Blazer (although he is the best player on the planet so the rational nba fan in me would quickly come to terms with Kobe in Red and Black).

Play this out. The Lakers fail to win a championship next year, for whatever reason, maybe they even regress (Bynum's injury haunts him) - I do not know why, I am just making crap up at this point, but for whatever reason they fail to even make the championship game. Meanwhile, Portland, again hypothetical, miraculously becomes the New Orleans of 2008 and scares a few playoff teams.

The summer of 2009 rolls around, and assuming no one hires Darius Miles to F things up, Portland is sitting with 20+ million in cap space. If I am not mistaken, doesn't Kobe have a PO next summer? If not, then just pretend he does - I mean if you're this far into this message then you're already with me and Alice in Wonderland, so one more imaginative won't hurt.

Kobe signs with the Blazers.

Oden
LMA
Outlaw / Webster
Kobe
Roy

Pryzbilla
Frye / Diogu
Outlaw / Webster / Batum
Fernandez
Bayless / Blake

Assuming Portland gets the Kobe player that shares the ball, how does that team strike ya?

I guess a lot of people will say it is a downgrade to the Laker team. But forget that part, play along with this fairy tale!

lmao. yeah, you're both right. My best friend is actually rooting for Spain instead of Team USA only because Kobe is on Team USA. Now that is hate.

Lock her up, Mr. MOD, if you deem necessary. It was all roleplaying fantasyland anyway. I do not want to offend.

What if Roy and Aldridge accept a pay cut in 2010, and Lebron signed with Portland? What if Wade signed with Portland? ugh.

Seriously, what a stupid thread.

If Kobe were a Portland TrailBlazer I would cry. I do not want him anywhere near the team or city except when he and the Lakers have to roll into town for there annual loss at the Rose Garden.

if kobe were suddenly inserted into the trailblazers current lineup, then they would be the favorites but i dont think it would be guaranteed, but they would be clear favorites.

People talk about him being the best player on the planet, but I don't agree. A very, very good player. But there are a few players on his level.

Blazer fans should be happy with what they have. They have a young developing nucleus that should be solid for years to come. They have made a nice turn around. For me, a fan of the Sheed Blazers, it pains me to say that. I guess I start cheering for Sheed's younger identical twin Aldridge once Sheed hangs it up
