I for one love what Jason Terry has brought to this team, both on and off the court. I know a lot of people feel disgruntled about him, but I for one love the guy.

I would be for this deal if we took our Dirk, switched it for Josh and threw in Bass, and whatever other fillers, but not Dirk.

Getting rid of both JET and Dirk completely changes the team. They are arguably the two biggest players, one's the locker-room kind of guy, and one is our franchise.

I stand corrected about Damp. Buckner with Avery started a lot games with Howard on the wing bringing Stack off the bench. Stack is overpaid but at the time he was a vital cog in a team that came really close to winning the title. I agree though he is overpaid. Terry was resigned after playing like a GOD in the playoffs. You can argue he was the Mavs best player in the playoffs that year. He also is overpaid though. Damp is overpaid too but he's overpaid, unlike Stack and Terry who came up big when it counted, because of Dirk. Cuban realizes as should you that if you're going to build around a finesse player you have to bring in physical players. Cuban knew that Dampier was a good fit next to Dirk and got him by any means, thus the bad contract to desperately make up for Dirk's defenciencies. The same goes for the Harris-Kidd trade. That trade was made because of Dirk. When the Mavs imploded against the Warriors everyone blamed the PGs instead of blaming the MVP. Cuban and Avery I'm assuming had it in their heads that what they really needed was a floor general, a leader on the floor. All things that you would expect to come from your MVP.

I agree with a lot of your points though. I just think you need to ask yourself why Cuban made these moves. In a few of these BAD moves they were tryingn to compensate for Dirk's weaknesses. As they should if you 're deciding to build around a player. From that perspective, the moves they have made were not that bad. They're biggest mistake is building around Dirk, sugesting that he is a top tier player.

Quiet as kept I believe that Cuban has such a strong love affair with Dirk because:
A: He seems like a good dude.
B: He's a unique player with a cool name.
and C: He's a very marketable white player who is good for business as your centerpiece.

Let's just agree to disagree, because I really doubt anyone here will take what you're saying seriously after making the proposal.

I dont feel so bad about some of my trade ideas now after reading this garbage. Pau Gasol good player, Dirk GREAT player. This had to have been a joke. I'm all for being creative and finding ways to get better but let me get this straight we would trade away Dirk the rock and I would say leader of this team and former MVP for a guy with somewhat comparable numbers (would love to see the comparision of playoff stats I bet Dirk blows him out of the water) but when on his own Pau cant get it done. But besides that we get Odom and still have Howard so we have two starting SF's and I cant stand E. Jones but you take Terry away as well and your left with nothing at the SG. So when it's all said and done your left with just a tad bit more cap room, your present team will suck, as well as your future b/c the Nets have our first rounder the year after. I'm not sure I would ever find a deal that I like that involves Dirk to be honest, but this by far this one of the worst trade scenario's I have ever seen. The Lakers were already given a gift last year why give them another.

It's kinda hard to know what to say to a guy like this, ins't it?!

Dirk is an 7 time All-star, an 8 time All-NBA, a former league MVP, etc., etc., etc. I guess that the people who make their living assessing the talent of players must disagree with All Hail. But they're probably all wrong and he's right.

You must be some sort of idiot to come onto a Maverick board and weakly attempt to argue that Pau "freaking" Gasol is nearly as good as Dirk. You clearly have little understanding of basketball if you attempt to make an argument like that. You even failed to realize that the Kevin Martin comparison to Kobe Bryant was an analogy to show how stupid the Dirk/Gasol comparison was. Obviously Kevin Martin is nowhere near Kobe despite being a nice player. The same is true of the Gasol and Dirk comparison.

IBTL IBTL IBTL!
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

i cant figure out what is more comfortable, watching all hail try and argue his case or stabbing myself in the eye with an ice pick

all hail if you're so certain on your assessment of dirk and gasol any chance you can present your "argument" on one of the main boards

Proven losers won't get you any MVP. Book it. I can understand the bitterness. Both are them
wasted Kobe's efforts on the big stage. You want to trade them for something damn good just like some of our fans want to trade JoHo for nothing. Like AK47 or Boozer, JoHo won't get traded for those unreasonable offers. ( I still remember some fans want to trade Boozer for Damp! )

Dirk is not an active leader but he's better than both,
That's alarming. That's how bad both guys are. They're not as smart as Dirk. Not as clutch as well.
Both failed to do something particularly well. They're not really elite player.

delusional. Mavs will not trade 1st and 3rd scoring options for 3rd and 4th in LAL.
