OT: Good fantasy trade?

Post#1 » by Jitpal » Tue Jul 1, 2008 6:10 pm

Basically I traded Adam Dunn and BJ Ryan for Cano. My team before the deal:
C: Russell Martin
1B: Conor Jackson
2B: Jose Lopez
3B: Evan Longoria
SS: Hanley Ramirez
OF: Nate McLouth
OF: Vernon Wells
OF: Gary Sheffield
Util: Curtis Granderson
BN: Jerry Hariston Jr.
BN: Adam Dunn

SP: John Lackey
SP: Ervin Santana
SP: Justin Duchscherer
SP: Ryan Dempster
SP: Joe Saunders
SP: Joba Chamberlain
RP: Fransisco Rodriguez
RP: Mariano Rivera
RP: BJ Ryan
RP: Brandon Morrow

Obviously, I was dealing from strength because I have 3 other closers in Mo, K-Rod and Morrow. I also have other outfielders and obviously could not play all of them at the same time. My 2nd baseman was lacking in Jose Lopez and I think Cano is going to turn it around. I was thinking that I would drop Jose Lopez and pick up another position player. With the empty spot I would pick up Kevin Slowey who has been having a pretty good year. -Jitpal

well i think its a split, cano is rasising his average, and Adam dunn is a homerun hitting machine, you started sheffield, but dunn should have started, you have a surplus of closers, so you dont have to worry about that, overall nice trade, cano will bat like .310 have 16hrs and 100 rbis, somewhere in that hood, good trade...

Well I switch up who plays based on matchups and stuff. That was just on that day. I feel like Cano will do much better than Dunn in the 2nd half of the year. Plus a big problem for me is my batting average, and Dunn either striking out or hitting a home run will not help that. Cano batting like .350 for the rest of the year will help me. Anyway you slice it, Cano is much better than Jose Lopez. -Jitpal

I like it because of Cano's historic strong second halfs. Dunn could slow down, or even be shut down should he remain with the Reds and get a minor injury. The only risk is that he's dealt to a contender and earns more protection in some lineup...

Are you playing in a league with fools? How did you manage to get a team like that? No way you drafted every single person on that team cuz then u are the smartest fantasy player in the world of baseball, cuz everyone on that roster is a stud this year so far...

Only a horrible league could have allowed you to get all of those players, its just not pleasible.

My draft wasn't too great. Only 8 of the 21 remain on the team. Here was my draft, I picked 2nd overall.
1. Hanley Ramirez
2. Russell Martin
3. Curtis Granderson
4. Adam Dunn
5. Francisco Rodriguez
6. John Lackey
7. Vernon Wells
8. Alex Gordon
9. Mariano Rivera
10. Joba Chamberlain
11. Michael Cuddyer
12. Ian Snell
13. Ryan Garko
14. Todd Helton
15. Homer Bailey
16. Placido Polanco
17. Jason Giambi
18. Tom Gorzelanny
19. Frank Thomas
20. Daniel Cabrera
21. Ty Wigginton

It was a pretty bad draft. Like looking at some guys I could have drafted at my spot at 11 or later are: Josh Hamilton, George Sherrill, Matt Cain, Jermaine Dye, A.J. Pierzynski, Matt Garza, Justin Upton, Brad Lidge, Zach Grienke, Joakim Soria, Geovanny Soto, James Shields, Carlos Marmol, Jhonny Damon, Adrian Gonzalez, Cliff Lee, Chien-Ming Wang, Rich Harden, Kerry Wood, Josh Willingham, Yunel Escobar, Rick Ankiel, and James Loney to name a few. Guess hindsight really is 20-20.

Other than the trade I discussed above, the rest are all guys I picked up on waivers and such. -Jitpal

I just traded Manny Ramirez and Johnny Cueto for Ervin Santana and Corey Hart so other then having a weak 1b/2b combo, im pretty stacked.

1B. C. Kotchman
2B. R. Weeks
SS. J. Rollins
3B. R. Braun
OF J. Hamilton
OF J. Hermida
OF K. Fukodome
Util C. Hart
Util D. Murphy
BN J. Bruce
BN G. Sheffield

SP Felix Hernandez
SP Edinson Volquez
SP Ervin Santana
RP F. Rodriguez
RP G. Sherill
P J. Verlander
P Z. Greinke
P C. Bucholz
BN C. Marmol
