Reggie Evans?

Post#1 » by SamBone » Wed Jul 9, 2008 6:08 pm

word on a philly radio station today is that the sixers are offering Reggie Evans for matt Carroll. Would we have any interest in this?

interesting...

sixers need outside shooting and carroll is a philly guy. cats need frontcourt/rebounding help and evans would seem to be an LB type guy.

what's evans' contract like?

not a bad deal.

but it would suck to lose the hammer. :(

I don't like Evans.

I do like the Hammer.

Not sure I can be impartial on this one!

P.S. Fats: I think he has something like $15 mil coming to him over the next 3 years so it's not like the trade would give us cap space.

The Hawks need a shooter. I'd rather trade him there in a S&T for Chill.

Well there ya go...a trade just so we can say we did one!!! Probably a good thing Jordan traded our 1st to Denver next year else Philly would be getting it in this deal.

I don't care for Evans either. We do need more rebounding and he'd give us that...but he has one of the worst offensive games I've ever seen for a professional player. Not to mention this would make us weak at the 2...who'd back up Swish? Ammo and his wonderful handles? Our 2nd round pick Weaver?

Not really a fan of this idea.

He's a pretty good rebounder - but not a good shot blocker, not that mobile, not that big, not that cheap and even worse - yes, WORSE - at the ft line than EO50.

I just don't dig this idea at all.

Let's do this if we get rid of Okafor. He's a better rebounder than Emeka, but he's a little worse at defending and MUCH worse offensively. Would not want to see them in the same front court, but he could be an okay downgrade replacement.

not really a fan of evans at all. The host was stating how the contracts match and sixers need a shooter and we need a rebounder. I hope this doesn't happen. The host also mentioned that they have the same agent and that it could be the agent trying to swap the players, but he also said that he doubted we would trade Hammer

I want to go after Biedrins of GSW (sorry Floppy). With their recent signing and their commitment to Monta it appears they'll have to go into luxury tax in order to pay him what he's probably going to want. If Mek walks I say we force the issue.

Spectre, I was thinking about that earlier today looking at the ufa list. I agree we should create more problems for GSW if we do lose Okafor, my post was just in the "in no way should we do this if we keep Emeka" line of thinking.

Carroll had a pretty terrible year, and he's locked up for longer than Evans if I'm not mistaken, which makes the idea at least thought-provoking.... and as for who's backing up JRich, I'm thinking you knew the answer and just didn't want to say it, spectre: two PG lineup. =(

Hammer's deal is at least front loaded though and is only 1 year longer than Evans.

"IF" we lost EO50 then I would go this route for sure - so long as Beans didn't want huge crazy like money.

Everywhere I've read he wanted a 5 year/50m extension last summer. His signing will very much dictate next offseason's talks with Anderson Varejao.

So if you could choose between:

EO50 @ $65mil over 5
or
Beans @ $50mil over 5

What would you pull the trigger on?

Rhetorical? Okafor in a landslide.

Their production is not dissimilar. Beans is about 4 years younger than EO50 and would come $15mil dollars cheaper which would allow us the room for other FA's.

I don't think it's that rhetorical is it?

Perhaps their production on the boards and on offense. The question is whether Okafor's defensive difference is worth the extra cash. I'm inclined to say it is.
