Assuming he can return to his form of 2-3 years ago Brand is a complete player. He can score inside, he has a nice 15 ft jumper outside, he can get up and down the floor, he can play in the half-court, he plays great defense. He isn't just a shot blocker he plays smart defense and is an unselfish player.

Really the only weaknesses I can think of are

1) I don't know if he's proven to be a "go to" player, or a number 1 option on a championship caliber team. He strikes me more of a number 2 type option, but on Philly he has to be the man. Kevin Garnett is similar in that regard though and no one questions the overall type of quality player he is.

2) His size. While he plays big, plays tough defense/rebs/blks, etc... at times his size is just what it is and he can't over come it. He's a short PF.

3) The injury concern. He's an unknown right now. There is no guarantee he can return to the form he was in years ago.

The only weaknesses I can think of right now would classify as nitpicking. If he can return to form he's one of the elite bigs in the NBA and does not have many weaknesses.

1) Eh

2) No way. He is a BIG PF. He just has a small head and no neck. I am being dead serious. He has a 7-5+ wingpsan. He isn't undersized for a center. He plays about 4 inches taller than Anthony Randolph will. Let me put it that way. Randolph's long neck ain't gonna help him much. He isn't a giraffe... Brand is just a monster.

3) Eh

All I take issue with was #2. He is close to oversized for the PF position.

I agree. This thread is truly a silly one.

Brand's weaknesses? (Like he's got any glaring ones at all!)

That's what you think should be discussed on such a great day in Sixers history?

Brand's weaknesses are that we won't have a high draft pick next season with all that winning....... yep, that about sums it up.

I would say his biggest weakness is his health issue. We don't know how he will hold up after taking a season off from a major injury.

Look, I'm excited for our franchise just like everyone else. Still, our team has definite weaknesses. Our top 3 (in terms of money) are Brand, Sammy, and Iggy (once we resign him)? Are we beating the Celtics, Pistons, or Cavs with that? I don't mean to rain on the parade, but I think it's too easy for people to get caught up in the moment over this Brand signing.

He shot 100% from 3 pt range 2 years ago. To be honest with you, Elton Brand really doesn't have a weakness. I've seen him play plenty of times and there's really nothing wrong with his game at all. Him and Kevin Martin are the two most underrated players in the game imo. A healthy Brand is the 3rd best pf on the planet. He's not that far behind KG and Duncan either. He just doesn't get any recognition because he has been playing for the Clippers.

joeyyowee or anyone else with the anwser: I was listening to Bill Simmons and his words were Brand "has no post game whatsoever"
I dont know if he knows what hes talking about but he was a Clippers season ticket holder

I haven't watched Brand play alot (at all actually). Does Simmons have a point?

If he plays like he's always done, we'll love him too much to let him go after 5. That's his weakness- the LA Clooooser fans hate him for leaving. We may too, when he's done!

The only knock you can think of is his size...he's 6'8. Otherwise, he's the jack of all trades and doesn't do anything that would make you negatively criticize him.

Its really not a knock when you consider he has an absolutely freakish 7'5 foot wingspan, and literally no neck to speak of. You'd think people would stop talking about his lack of height seeing that he's been in the league for 9 years averaging 20/10/2, and has never had a problem defending or scoring on the biggest players in the league...

If you're going to nitpick, that's the only thing you're going to find to knock him. He does have an enormous wingspan, but he becomes less imposing defending players when his standing height isn't level with bigger guys and it's harder for him to body up, he has to work harder...defenders also have an easier time with him than they would if he was a bit taller. It's insignificant, and more so an imperfection than a flaw on his part.

I've also read through various scouting reports on the web and came across this:
But this does illustrate the fatal flaw in Elton Brand's NBA game: he is not unstoppable. His offensive repertoire has improved the last several years, but he is not the kind of player that can take on a double team and still put the ball in the basket.

Which is true to an extent, but it's not what we're expecting out of him. He's not that kind of player, but it's still perfectly fine.
