Early comparison: Bayless v Westbrook
Who will become the better pro?
Who is better right now?
These two players have been compared to Monte Ellis a lot and basically flip-flopped draft positions.

Re: Early comparison: Bayless v Westbrook
I know it's only summer league but Westbrooke has looked pretty damn good. Plays tough defense and has been able to score. Bayless is the better scorer, but how much will he really need to score on a team with LMA/Oden/ and Roy. I guess it never hurts to have enough scoring, as long as Bayless is comfortable and willing to stick to whatever role he has on the team.

Re: Early comparison: Bayless v Westbrook
I think Bayless is better and more skilled right now while Westbrook has the physical talents that give him a lot of potential. They both need to be developed.
In terms of PG skills all I read during the workouts between the top combo guards is that Bayless is further ahead than the rest. In terms of defense, Westbrook is more NBA capable and has the advantage. And in terms of scoring, Bayless has showed he's a better scorer. Although, Westbrook did surprise teams with his shot during the workouts so he could've improved substantially in that area after the tournament.
I see both players becoming good pros. Whoever becomes the better pro will probably be a product of how they are utilized and developed. None of them are finished products and you can't just throw them in at PG right now and expect them to succeed.

Westbrook is better at defense, and nothing else.
Seems like a dumb reason to take a point guard at the top of the draft.

I think Bayless is better right now while Westbrook has the potential to be better down the line

Summer League means nothing. It's been proven over and over again.
I bet Bayless will dominate Summer League, BTW.

Not trying to contradict myself, I do think Bayless will play well in Summer league, but at the same time it means nothing.

SL means something, in that you can get at least some idea of how the players are picking up their team's offensive and defensive systems. You can't get over excited if they look great, but on the other hand, I can't remember too many players who stunk up the joint in SL who went on to have really good rookie seasons. (on the otehr hand, I've seen lots of guys play well in SL and play little in regular season games)
Anyhoo...
Westbrook has looked really good in SL although he struggled with his shooting today. Have to wait to see how Bayless looks when Portland starts play at Las Vegas SL.
By the way, Mario Chalmers has looked jsut as good as Westbrook down at the Orlando SL...if he can keep this up once the regular season starts, he might end up being the steal of the draft.

IIRC LeBron James averaged like 12.5 ppg on like 35% in his summer league

LeBron, Kobe, and Duncan all sucked it up in SL
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Re: Early comparison: Bayless v Westbrook
^honestly, me too, atleast for Portland.
Bayless, imo, will be the better player. However, Portland already has 3-4 big time scorers (or should be), and a stud defender in the back court would be nice.
