OT - Brandon Jennings to Europe

Evidently with his test scores not sufficient that top rated freshman PG Brandon Jennings is going to Europe. It will be interesting to see how this affects his draft stock next year.

I will be interested to see what kind of contract he gets over there... a highly touted american prospect should earn a lot of money, and with the strength of the Euro right now he could make more money than he would in the NBA as a mid first rounder if the rule hadn't changed

Haha, this is one of those true but strangely ironic statements.

He couldn't make it into college because he wasn't particularly smart so he breaks new ground and makes money in Europe instead of going to college...

If it becomes a trend, the NBA is going to regret that age limit.

I think its funny how people keep ignoring the fact that he did get the grade to get in. He did a good job on his SAT's the second time he took them. He was required to take them again because of the jump in score from his first testing and second one.

He wasn't eligible the first time with his scores, got some tutors, got a good score the second time, and got flagged to take them a third.

I am noticing all the stories are ignoring this and pretending that he has just done horribly on his SAT's and still hasn't passed.

That would be Kevin Garnett.

The funny thing is that the team that signs him can almost certainly recoup 300K of the money paid to him in the form of a buyout from his new NBA team.

The NBA better wake up quick and I mean real quick. Once these kids get the taste of Europe they wont come back! The life of only 2 games a week, the tax free dollars, the beautiful foreign women, the limo and driver. The money that can be made in Europe is real.

If this becomes a trend. The NBA will change their policy. Watch and see.

You are just highlighting some of the things that are good. I would think blogs by guys like Paul Shirley and Gabe Muoneke would have given enough people a look at the ugly side of playing in Europe. Don't get me wrong, I think its a great option, but the likelihood of then staying isn't going to be that big. especially the ones that could be a NBA lottery pick like Jaccobs.

^^^ I don't think a player of Paul Shirley's stature represents what the game is like in Europe. There are probably a lot of guys like that who hate the NBA too.

I'm all for high school kids going over there. Basketball is these kids' craft, I would want to focus on it 24-7 and not worry about a calculus class, not to mention you get paid.
