Best 2nd/3rd Option Big Man?

Post#1 » by zong » Wed Jul 9, 2008 8:55 pm

Name some of the best and steady 2nd/3rd option big men in recent history, that doesnt mind giving up to the ball for another player on the team, and is effective at providing offence/defence as "robin"

Some decent ones I can think up of right now is Rik Smits, Chris Kaman (with Brand healthy), Antonio Davis, I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of good ones though.

Antonio Davis was noticeably overrated; people ignored how inefficient he was offensively for the Raptors. Good rebounder, though.

Starting topics so other posters can do your research for your ATL draft is well........

Clever yet disapointing

I admit I knew people would think I'm asking other people to do my research, but I talked it over with you about the player I was going to pick anyway so doesnt it cancel things out? :D

It wasnt my true intention though, I mean, people werent going to really "research" about this kind of stuff, more opinions than actual facts I would think.

About Antonio Davis, a lightbulb just lit up in me as I forgot how he used to take those ugly mid-range jumpers, but most of his points came on baby books and offensive rebounds.

I think Rik Smits has to be near the top of that list though, I remember when I was a kid I watched the flying dutchman play almost shaq-like as a facilitator

Antonio Davis never shot better than 44% FG in a season where he took 9+ FGA/g, that should be all you need to know about his offensive value.

Kevin Garnett is the most obvious one. He can score, but would rather pass the ball to Pierce or Ray Allen (and is a great passer).

And if you want to go back to the 1980s, Kevin McHale and Robert Parrish.
