S & T for Josh Smith?

Anyone who thinks the Clippers are just going to sign Smith to a max contract and the Hawks just let him go away are stupid. Am I saying that Smith is going to stay with the Hawks? No, but he could if they do set the asking price too steep for him. If he does leave the Hawks, it will be in a trade because he is way too good to just let walk away. As much as I would LOVE to have Smith on the Mavs, I just don't see it happening for personnel reasons. I mean that in we don't have the talent at the right prices to bring him in. Smith is easily one of my favorite players to watch and it would be a dream to have him on our team.

Any deal the Mavs would make would have to start with Bass and Stackhouse, and then either one or a combination of Dampier, Terry, or Howard. Again, as much as I like Smith, we would be destroying our depth if we did something like that.

The Hawks management is in such flux from the inside that they could send him away for cheap maybe, but that is just wishful thinking on my part

if its all it costs is stack, bass and terry/damp like you suggest I would be ALL OVER IT. I would say a deal would have to start with howard...
but regardless, a deal for josh smith wont happen so it's all a pipedream. most probably he'll stay a hawk

definitely would take Howard at his high rating before the pot smoking admission and Bass plus maybe something else and I don't mean salary matching pieces.

Depth with Dirk Smith Kidd Dampier Diop Terry Green Wright Foster Singleton JJ McLeod would still be there but the need at SG would still exist however we might have that among the youngs we are fielding. Wright Green and Singleton are big and capable and Foster can shoot lights out. I would be willing to give it a shot but I think a team like Atlanta would want to keep Smith. But if we could get Childress with a similar offer that doesn't include Howard i would do that.
