The Clippers seem to feel that they can lure Emeka Okafor away from the Charlotte Bobcats and that somehow that will make up for losing Brand. Before they do that they should ask the Bobcats about the miserable failure that met their attempt to move Okafor to the four, where the Clippers are certainly hoping he would play for them. Chris Kaman is twice the player Okafor is, so you certainly don't bench him in favor of using Ekafor. But Okafor also lacks the skill set needed to play the four in the NBA. He has no handles, doesn't pass the ball well, and needs to be in the paint to be effective . . .and he's not all that effective even there.
For the Clippers' sake they better hope the Bobcats match any offer for Okafor. The Bobcats might just see this as a golden opportunity to get rid of one of the worst draft mistakes in modern history.
I'm not a Bobcats fan at all but watching Emeka Okafor living in Connecticut and watching him play for the Huskies the Bobcats picking Okafor after Howard was a no brainer and for this moron to call Okafor a draft mistake is just ludicrous. And i fully believe that when healthy and on his game Okafor is one hell of a big to have on your team and believe that he's better then Bogut who just signed and extension for 72 mil.... any thoughts?

Re: I read this on Hoopsworld about Emeka Okafor and disagree
At first I thought you were just posting your thoughts on the article until I realized the first two paragraphs were bits from the article in mention. Glad I didn't burst at the seams at you haha.
Anyways, I find the article to be a bit biased. I personally don't think Kaman is twice the player Okafor is. Okafor has shown he improved his FG % (albeit because most of his shots are within arm reach of the basket), and outside of Free Throws, Kaman really doesn't dominate him in anyway.
Perhaps, if LA is truly interested in Okafor at PF, they'd have a hell of a defensive pairing there, but I just don't see it. In my opinion I wondered about the Davis signing while drafting Gordon, and if this were to come true, Okafor and Kaman? Eh ... seems a bit off in my opinion.

Re: I read this on Hoopsworld about Emeka Okafor and disagree
I just read that myself a few minutes ago and was like WTF? Okafor's game isn't perfect, but he is a solid defender and has a better offensive game than folks give him credit for. In any event I pulled up the draft for that year and wondered who else the Cats should have taken if not Okafor. The answer is no one. Overall it was a fairly weak draft IMHO. Some good players in the late lottery but no one really great.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

more from hoopsworld
" In LA Okafor could focus solely on being a power forward, a luxury he wouldn't have in Charlotte since they still just have Nazr Mohammed at center unless you consider Alexis Ajinca NBA-ready (he's not). "

I think the basis of the article is spot on - but harsh.
Fact is, if the Clips think that EO50 can replace what they lost with Brand leaving they are out of thier minds. They are totally different players.

Okafor was a solid pick. IMO, you should always try and build a team from the inside out and Okafor was the best left. Al Jefferson may be the only exception seeing as how Boston played a huge part in developing him to become the player he is now. The draft that everyone should be focusing on was the draft where the Bobcats selected Adam Morrison instead of Brandon Roy.
