^I didn't want to discuss/argue about a trade not involving Odom for a few obvious reasons:

1) It's not realistic - you got to give some to get some. ;)
2) I'm not that high on Marbury

However, I do believe I have shown at least one viable trade that makes sense for both teams.

I'll just list 4-5 random ones off the head:

1. Odom, Radman, Farmar = Marbury, future 1st rounder
2. Odom, Radman, Mihm, Farmar = Marbury, (filler), future 1st rounder
3. Odom, MLE, 2nd rounder = Marbury, 1st

^Why?

1. To rid ourselves of Radman's contract while acquiring a former All-Star guard (Marbury) & and 1st rounder in the process.

2. I have a saying, "we can not lose what we can not gain."
-If we don't maximize Odom's strengths in the Triangle, and he's got trade value - why don't we trade a guy that we're "overpaying".
-Marbury would fill a avoid that we can use: Triangle-PG-skills (half-court passing/dribbling/3pt shooting/2nd scorer) while replacing what we lose potentially (minus Odom/Farmar); a bench man scorer (Farmar), and an elite 3rd-fiddle/6th-man type of player in the Triangle Offense (Odom).
-Bynum's return should be able to compensate for Odom's departure in the rebounding and points department. Especially so in Bynum's contract year.
-Also, Odom's departure would probably allow Bynum to take a bigger share of the spoils and not feel guilty that he's the one that made resigning LO a problem.

Quick recap:

-We gain: An All-Star caliber PG (Marbury) that can shine in the Triangle Offense with his skill-set.
-We gain: Future KNICKS 1st rounder

-We lose: A bench scorer that thrives in an uptempo full-court offense (Farmar)
-We lose: An talented jack-of-all-trades overall player (Odom), who is one of our best rebounders, a great passer on the break - but not perfectly suited for a half-court game. (Triangle Offense)

--> The Knicks get 2-3 players that would fit in D'antoni's run & gun system.

--> The Lakers gain an All-Star talent in Marbury; a man who's fit to start as a guard alongside Kobe and make Kobe's job easier as a scorer/finisher/post-passer. We also gain a KNICKS draft pick to boot.

Here's the link to PG4 of this thread where I discussed the quoted material on the bottom further.

If you like any one of these, feel free to reply.

-It is.
-We would be trading...

a) Odom, Radman (filler) = Marbury, 2nd rounder
b) Odom, Radman & Mihm (filler), Farmar ("future starting PG caliber") = Marbury, future protected 1st rounder

Verb I doubt seriously that it happens, those two cats can't stand each other too much personal stuff got in the way according to KG. Starbury was pissed the day KG first got paid.

Anyway Starbury couldn't function in the Triangle .

I do agree with you that he would rather play a different style and have a bigger offensive role.

But I believe he has the talent and the natural skill-set to do well in the Triangle.

It's for him to decide if he wants to take orders from PJ and study the Triangle while keeping his killer instinct.

And that my friend is not a definite and resounding "YES".

But if he does choose to come here and do most of the right things...

He would have a chance to play next to the active-GOAT (Kobe), active-International Champion (Gasol), active-KAJ apprentice, active-HOF-Head Coach (Phil Jackson) and make a compelling run at the GOLD STANDARD stash of his "sworn enemy" KG5!

OH MY!

If you don't like that response, feel free to blame the beer I just had.

Good early-bird night, all.

I forgot what else I wanted to say.
