I still would be interested in exploring both Camby and Nocioni. Probably moreso Camby now if we can unload Stro/KVH for him. He can help out Brooksy/Josh/Sean. If we were able to grab Nocioni for Hassel/Marcus, I'd crap my pants but I don't see that happening but if we pulled both those of, I think we've have a competitive team with a lot of young talent and some high character quality vets. Granted still that line up is a lottery team, but at least I would enjoy watching them lose every night since I like everyone on the roster.

As for PG. Dooling or Pargo are my boys. Use some of the MLE. I don't think either are worth the full. Pargo is my first choise though.

Man, i hope we -are- good, but i don't see us getting more than 12-20 wins if the kids can't hang.

Nobody is winning just 12-20 Games if the chemistry is alright and no significant injuries occur .
On paper the team should have less holes then last years team had where he just had 3 players + spare parts but will it be more then paper ? Who knows .

The bench has always been so terrible. This won't change that fact.

Maybe we can add Dooling ... I like him paired with Harris

We should have a bench after this offseason . Something we haven't had since 03-04 ...

Our team was alright in the first and thrid quarter but our bench flat out lost the games for us. Countless times behind by double didgets at halftime after we led after the 1st quarter.

I disagree, ever since the 06-07 series against the cavs, our big 3 cannot close out games to save their life. I remember countless times last year where we had a 5-10 pt lead going into the 4th and have between Vince/RJ/Kdd score less than 10 points in the 4th and we'd fall apart. Our bench wasn't good but in the 4th you blame the top and work your way down. Unless Boki was jackin up 30-foot jumpers, no reason to blame him.

I think the way this squad is we can win more then 20 with the kidds in the starting line up.

The way the East has improved or stayed as is I really doubt we can get in the playoffs at .500. I wouldnt want to anyway. I would rather lottery. I want the young guys to have as much playing time as possible.

I dont want Camby or Nocioni. Hayes is a good pick up. If we can get Najera for 2 years for cheap I am for that too. Trading for Camby and Nocioni is over kill. Najera is like Nocioni. Why trade for him if can just pay Najera to play for 2 yrs. We do need a combo guard. I also say we keep Jaycee for more fire power off the bench.

I think Jaycee has a snowballs chance in hell at sticking with the team.

As of today we have 14 guys under contract (this leaves out Boki and Nenad):

Harris
Marcus
Vince
Ager
CDR
Hassell
Simmons
Stro
Sean Williams
Boone
Lopez
Anderson
Yi
KVH

Now, the Nets historically loathe sending their young players to the NBDL. They feel they get a better feel for the NBA by practicing with them and playing against NBA level competition. With that thought in hand, I doubt the Nets will carry a roster over 13 guys. Only way they do is if they put Stro on the inactive list. Even if they did that and took Jaycee, he's never gonna see the light of day off the bench and they'll probably cut him to let him go play in Europe or the NBDL.

As of right now, we have to have 1-2 trades on the horizon if we are actually going to sign Jarvis. Stro/KVH/Hassell/Ager/Marcus and picks are our assets the Nets are willing to move. if we can move 5 guys and get 2 in return in various trades, then we'd be pretty set as a roster.

Just curious if you enjoy drugs? because Nocioni is a starter quality SF in the NBA. He's a tenacious defender who likes to get physical and has a sweet jumper. He's one of the few foreign players like that. For a starter caliber SF in the NBA, his contract is incredibly small. Also unlike our 2 year rent-a-player possibilities, as long as he stays healthy, he'll probably have decent value throughout his contract, meaning if we actually we able to land Lebron and he didn't want to come off the bench for LBJ and Vince, we can probably move him. Nocioni >>>>>> Najera in every facet of basketball every day of the week contract or not. If he made Bobby Simmons money, then I'd agree with you 100% but since he doesn't it's laughable.

With Camby, I don't necessarily want him as I'd rather just have a platoon of young guys play as much as possible, but I wouldn't be against bringing him in. You're talking about one of the best defensive centers of the last half decade who isn't completely worthless (see: Ben Wallace) now at this point of his career. He can be HUGE in the defensive development of every big man on our roster. I'd especially like to see what he can do with Brooksy and Sean. Sure he'll take minute away from them but between the 4 and 5 position, it won't be as much as you think since we don't have a 2 big men on our roster taking 30mpg at both positions. We'll still be able to have our platoon of big man coming in and out playing with Camby. Add all this to the fact his contract comes off the books at the end of the 09-10 season to free up about 10 million more in cap room would ensure we'd have enough space to add a max player. If we get 1-3 of our young guys to become above average contributors along with Harris/Nocioni/Vince(if he's still here) I think that'd be more than enticing for a max player to come to us.

Adding some random rent-a-players and having to scrap for free agents in 2 years isn't really what I have in mind personally. Will it be easier to land free agents if we got a guy like Lebron? yes but I'd rather have more chips in place than have to look for them once we get a max deal player.

I feel like the Hayes signing is a great one for the value. Like previously said, he is a solid defender and can shoot the ball at a fair clip. He should push for the starting SF baring any trades this offseason. I expect him to put up 6-9 ppg. The best part is that he only cost the LLE. That is a killer price. We still have room to sign Pargo or Dooling, who I would love to acquire.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the drugs thing. I am actually a recurring crackhead. I am addicted to woman's cracks and I stick my head in them.

As far as Nocioni, I didnt say Najera is better. I said they are similiar. I didnt say he wasnt a good player. I said it would be too much. There is no reason to trade for him when we can use the assets for something we really need, a shooting guard or combo guard. Anyway if we are thinking LBJ, we dont need a starting caliber SF we need rentals like Simmons and Hayes.

As far as the number of players with contracts, KVH regardless if we trade him or not he is coming off this list. Ager time is limited. Swift can go on the IR for all I care. Play or not he is done with the Nets. As far Jaycee, if he doesnt get on the roster I wouldnt care either. I just like his game which is similiar to House. Come in for 5 mins score 7 pts.

I'm glad you all didn't spend much on him, at least. He actually had a decent year with the Pistons. He's a good guy with a good attitude.

I think this was possible the best player available for the LLE especially considering he's just 26 .

Return to Brooklyn Nets
