When are people going to stop posting whatever HoopsWorld writes like they ever really get anything right that is not started somewhere else?
They are never right, especially about the Magic. And furthermore, they appear to write with an agenda. And one that favors the Heat. Go back and look at their track record. Just based on the way they have written stuff, I'd be willing to bet that they just are doing the bidding of players' agents.
Not that a J.J. for UD trade would favor the Heat. But the devil is in the details, the "other players.''
Plus, Maginno is correct on this. Riley is not trading within the division, especially in any deal that he thinks might help the opponent (even if he likes the player he is getting back). What Riley will do if he likes J.J. -- and who even knows if that really is true? -- is wait until he becomes a free agent, try to sign him then and motivate him to beat the crap out of the Magic by reminding him of how much he didn't play here. Riley is much more diabolical than making a trade that benefits both teams. He doesn't just want to beat your team. He wants to bring it to its knees.
And he's certainly not looking to trade with the Magic. I think you guys fail to realize the bad blood between the teams after the Magic moved to hire Stan Van Gundy. Not between Stan and Pat maybe. But between the teams or Riley and the Magic.
It's so transparent what that report is all about. Sign and trade for Jason Williams. Pffftttt. Heat have made it abundantly clear that they don't want him back. Williams supposedly wants to play for Orlando. He's been telling reporters that all last season, based on reports that have been published in the newspapers. But, maybe looking at the problem Orlando has at point guard right now, J.Will's people think that the Magic should pay more than the minimum for him if they want him and that the Magic might be desperate enough to do it. They know the Magic already have spent most of their MLE. So start the sign-and-trade rumor so hopefully Williams could get the most possible money. Three possible problems with that idea, if you ask me.... 1).Heat already are flirting with the luxury tax so they don't want to add that much more in salaries either; 2).Magic might not want Williams at all if he costs more than the minimum; 3).If the Magic pay him much more than the minimum, then why not just re-sign Dooling? Yeesh!
As far as the Jameer talk goes....even if you don't like him (which I do), you just have to accept it. He's not going anywhere. For one, think just how desperate the Magic really would be if they didn't already have him under contract this offseason. Then they would have ZERO point guards under contract. And with the other talent out there this offseason, don't you think some other team would have thrown at least as much at him? But mostly, Otis isn't even his biggest backer. Dwight is. And if you don't think that matters, you clearly have forgotten how huge of a blow it was when the Magic lost Shaq. If you're asking for Jameer to be traded, you're asking for trouble.
Frankly, I'm not worried nearly as much about Jameer's contract as I am about Mickael Pietrus' contract. Pietrus' defense had better be of all-star caliber because his offense is nothing to be happy about. I laugh whenever I read that he is supposed to be a good outside shooter. Career 3-point percentage: 35 percent. Every Magic player who took a significant number of 3-pointers last year shot better than that, Bogans included.
