Yeah, I won't consider it outside the realm of possibility that Dunleavy could've left out a couple of details in his recount. It's not like he was asked to provide a complete list of every single thing discussed or whatever.
One thing was interesting- Dunleavy said that a couple of times Falk asked to talk to Sterling. And each time Dunleavy's reply was that you don't need to talk to Sterling, because he has given Dunleavy and Roesen (sp?) full authority to make a decision. Personally, I think he could've just said, "It won't make a difference, but okay let's ring him up." It probably wouldn't have made a difference, but I think in that situation if the agent asks more than once to talk to the owner, just make the frickin' call.
But no matter- to me the basic deal is that for whatever multiple reasons, things just didn't work out, so now the Clippers move on the Plan B. I do believe Dunleavy did everything he thought he could, meaning he made a good faith effort to sign EB (even if there might have been little mistakes made here or there, not not made, etc.)

I'm sure they eventually came up with the extra 5 million, but if they only did so after rejecting Brand's initial offer -- and making their own counter-offer for 70 million -- it doesn't matter. The Clippers FO tried to negotiate a better deal as opposed to simply taking Brand's original offer.....they started down the path of dickering over a few million, so they can't b*tch about where it ultimately lead them.
