Steve Francis
Do anybody think that Stevie can return to normal form by next year, and become our starting PG??
Because we really do need him, and he could put us over the top.
Thoughts??

His contract is worth more in a trade than him as a player right now. This guy was co-rookie of the year with Elton Brand, really sad how things have turned out for Francis.

We have to stop thinking of Franchise as a PG... I still remember a game when he picked up his dribble the minute he got past half court! As he gets older and his athleticism deteriorates you can really see that he was never a PG to begin with maybe he can be a better bobby jackson a lift off the bench but i doubt that. but hey PLEASE Stevie prove me wrong

If he comes to camp in shape and ready to play and willing to contribute off the bench, give him a chance.
Somehow I feel that's too much to ask for

He'll never beat out Rafer for the starting job.
Maybe Brooks for main backup, but not Rafer.

Well, he definitely can't be a worse Bobby Jackson, so that's good news.

Re: Steve Francis
I think if francis come back in shape he can earn his starting job back.
No way is alston better than francis, he was just in better shape last year.
So for those saying that he will never beat out rafer, is delusional.
Because i think if stevie commits to a diet and getting back in top notch shape, and commits to being a team player. He would get his starting job back.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

That's an important part of it, but so is basketball IQ, shot selection, defense, passing ability, and handles.
I mentioned in the other thread that I'm not a Francis hater, but I gotta be realistic here. Francis was miles above Rafer back in the day. I'm not sure that's the case now.

Francis has the handles, and passing ability. He just has bad decision making. I think he can improve on his decision making, since he is older now.
Right now, i think its all about gettin back into shape.
Rafer doesnt have the best shot selection either, and you can tell by his percentages.
I hope francis is at home working hard, because i would hate to defend him and he's bumming again.

Rafer's selection is fine. He has low percentages because he's a bad shooter.

But it still shows that francis, might've came into the off season with the right attitude.

Bottom line alston was just in better shape than francis, and had years under his belt with the team so he was able to set the offense up better, but francis could be the x-factor, definately isn't as good as he use to be but hes still the most athletic pg on this team, that can attack the basket and finish or make a play, I know we would have definately benefitted having him in that jazz series, all francis need is playing time.

He should start to be ready to play 10 minutes, and maybe 20 minutes if he is good enough, if not he should not complain because there is no team in the league who would give him more time play. I'am happy he stays with the Rockets.

Francis has been washed-up for a minute now, not sure why so many Houston Fan's jock this guy like he can come back and be better than he was. Let him retire in peace with his money or trade him for whatever scarps we can get.
