Bump, I know it's early, but any additional info (Correction of figures, Salary structure, option years, non-guarantees or if I just flat out missed somebody) would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like Bogut and the Bucks have agreed to an extension for 5 years that will pay him $12 million each year guaranteed plus he has the possibility of getting another $12.5 million in bonus money (some granted on team performance, some for individual performance). I know it's not a true 'free agent signing', so I'm not sure if you want to include it in this thread or not.

Might as well keep track of the contract extensions as well. So 5 years $60M with bonuses that could push it to $72.5. I guess the big question is "How much of his bonus money is consider likely?" On my next update I will put it in the verbal agreement section.

Found the article that talks about his extension:

http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=770905

There sure is a lot of useful info in this article. It says $12M flat for 5 years.

oh and BTW, thanks So Cal Blazer Fan

I didn't even think to come here and add the Bogut info.
We had that yesterday morning. Oops.

My own team, too :)

Thanks for picking up the slack, So Cal Blazer Fan.

lakerfan10770,
As for what would be considered a likely or unlikely incentive, that will not be determined until next offseason (and obviously one year at a time), since they base that on the prior season's numbers and the first year of that extension isn't until 09-10

Also, while it will be interesting, given the Bucks payroll structure barring very significant changes (which are still possible), we aren't going to be looking at being under the salary cap next offseason, and probably not the offseason after that either. So likely or unlikely classifications aren't initially going to be of much significance for us, and perhaps never will

Once again, thanks for the updates, lakerfan. [Seems strange for me to thank a Laker fan for anything....]

A couple of things:

1) The trade checker has Pietrus at less than the full MLE. Any confirmation of this?

2) Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and Chris Douglas-Roberts [in addition to both challenging for the 'Clarence Weatherspoon Award' for longest name in the NBA] both have been signed using the MLE instead of minimum salary exception according to the MLE list here on RealGM. 3 year rookie signings.

Thanks,

looks like Hayes got the BAE & Najera got 4 years $12M, seems a bit much (for Najera that is)

Try to think of me as a fan of the NBA that happens to favor the Laker's over the other 29 teams.

1) I was using this report: http://www.thirdquartercollapse.com/2008/7/9/567708/orlando-magic-sign-mickael mainly because it seemed to have the most info, but Otis Smith actually said that Pietrus will get almost all of the MLE. As to the article, it says the deal is for 4 years $25.1M, which is actually higher than a full MLE offer with 8% raises over 4 years. I think that you are right and it is actually less than the MLE, but since we don't know for sure yet (as if we ever do), I will leave it for now.

2) Until we can get some confirmation on the 2nd round picks and undrafted rookies, I was going to assume that they all get vet min for 2 years with the 2nd year as a team option. Obviously they all won't get that type of deal, but the majority will. As we get more details on the contracts I will update them.

BTW, I hadn't seen that MLE list before, it's kind of hidden, but if it's reliable it could be a big help. And to be honest I haven't been using RealGM's resources because they seem to be lagging a bit as of late (no transactions listed in June, missing stats for last year, etc...)

Anyways, thanks to you, Arenas809, & Sham for the help. Also thanks in advance to any of you guys that seem to have the inside info/access to the salaries that will share.

one thing i noticed is that Turiaf's contract can't be the way its listed if there was a PO...the PO year has to be at least the same salary as the year before. thanks for this thread, though, it's definitely very helpful

that was def one of the things that I was unsure about, I quickly looked for something about frontloaded contracts on Larry's website but didn't have any luck (I think it is there, I just didn't know where to look). If anyone has any input as to the structures of any of these deals that would be most appreciated. I for the most part am simply guessing as to the structure and hoping someone will come in and correct me (or confirm it hopefully).

As to Turiaf, so his last year has to be at least equal to the 3rd year?

Whereas a typical "normal" contract will have 8% raises from year to year, a typical "front-loaded" contract will have 8% declines from year to year. If there's a PO in the last year, it will usually be at the same salary level as the previous year.

An example of a four-year front-loaded $18M contract with a player option would be $5M, $4.6M, $4,2M, $4.2M. A four-year $18M contract averages $4.5M a year. You'll notice in the example that the total of first two years are over the average by $600,000, and the total of the second two years are under the average by the same amount.

A formula to estimate the contract described above would be A + .92A + .84A + .84A = B, where B is the total salary.

Edit: I corrected a mathematical error in the formula.
