By the way you guys are going to see an instant turnaround with Carslyle. Better Defensively, more consistent, and I predict, as constructed, 47-50 wins

I think that is a good trade.

The Mavs should have gone after Dunleavy last year.

what about Marquis Daniels for Jerry Stackhouse? Marquis Daniels should have never been traded in my opinion and I would love to have him back again beside Josh Howard that would be great.

Honestly, Stackhouse is OK, but his contract is 3 years. Marquis Daniels is a 7 milion dolar expiring contract and we have a bigger need at PF. I dont know much about Bass, but a few people talk about him being somewhat "expendable" because of Diop. It sounds like he is a tough player and shoots a high FG%. I question his rebounding because his stats and he is 6'8. It's a risky move for us because in order for this to be a fair trade, Bass would have to become a solid, solid PF in starters minutes

Stackhouse is due 7 mil this year and varies next year:

If we win a championship this year, he is owed $7.25 mil
If we don't win a championship, he is due $3,625,000 unless waived by August 10th 2009, then he only gets 2 mil.

I have no clue where you get a 3rd year from.

But, I would NOT do Bass for Dunleavy, PERIOD!

I'd do Dampier for Tinsley & Foster.
I'd do Terry + 2nd round pick for Dunleavy.
I'd do Terry + Stack for Tinsley + Dunleavy

But there is no way what so ever I give up Bass for Dunleavy!

Can you explain how a player who is 26 and had averages last year of 17pts,5rbs,5asst, shot 46% from the field and 43% from 3pt, is worth less than a PF who had averages of 8pts and 4rbs?

EDIT : I got the 3yrs left from ESPN's trade machine

Because the 23 YO big man in his 1st year of any playing time outproduced anyone drafted after #4 AND shot 50% himself with 4.4 reb and plays better defense in HALF the time.

BTW, Dunleavy will be 28 by traingin camp as he is 27 now (not 26) and turns 28 in Sept.

i agree that his FG% is impressive, but his rebounding numbers are not, percentage wise or other. Dunleavys defense is average. He is good at playing the passing lanes, but is a average on ball defender. is it that you think Bass will be that good? Or do you dislike Dunleavy's game that much? I bet his numbers were a lot better than your SG's last year? ( not tryin to come off confrintational)

I don't sidlike Dunleavy at all. I don't dislike Terry at all. I really think Terry + Stack for Dunleavy + Tinsley is a great offer for both teams.

Dunleavy is a taller, better rebounding, Terry without the PG ability. IMO, Dunleavey > Terry slightly.
The salary cut of Tinsley to Stack is about the difference between the two IMO, but with Jack, I doubt you will want Terry that much.

That said, I would not trade someone who will be a very good player for us at age 23 for someone, who at age 27, first earned his pay and has no history of being able to do it 2 years in a row. I'd rather go full steam ahead with the 23 yo Bass if all we are getting is a 28 yo avg swingman on a big contract (slightly above avg swingman if you really think he will repeat next year what he has only been able to do once in his career).

Thanks for the vote of confidence however this team has won 50+ games for the last 7-8 years so in order for there to be a turn-around we probably need to be 55-60 wins. My hope is that you are right and with Carlisle and this current set of players maybe this team is much better than last year. If Carlisle can get Josh Howard back to playing good basketball this team will already be much better than last year.

I realised after I posted that they already have had those wins. I just think RC is a heck of a coach and your team will be much better next year. I am shure is has been said here about the Harris trade, but I think RC will revitalize J Kidd

I like Mike Dunleavy,but in my opinion he's a SF,not a SG.
