herbert hill arrested for dwi

Philadelphia 76ers rookie Herbert Hill, a 6-foot, 10-inch forward, registered twice the legal alcohol limit when he was pulled over early today on the Saw Mill River Parkway and charged with drunken driving, police said.

Hill’s blood-alcohol content was measured at 0.16 percent on a Breathalyzer — 0.08 percent is the threshold for driving while intoxicated — Westchester County police said.

This makes things tough for Herb. Teams overlook arrests if the player is good enough. However, a fringe player like Herb could easily be replaced by a project without the DWI. Depends how much potential they think he has.

Was he in the team's plans for the future anyway? He's not on the summer league roster, and our frontcourt is already looking full (with Brand, Daly, Thad, Smith, Evans and Speights playing 4 or 5).

I'm guessing this happened around the time he found out the Sixers signed Elton Brand and drafted Speights...

They just didn't extend offers to those players. They could sign them at any time if they were needed.

Very unfortunate and bad decision by him... I like Hill as a player, so hope he can get a spot somewhere, if not in the league, then in Europe, then try the NBA more.

This guy's my cousin on my mom's side. I'm not close to him but I do know about the family history. DWI's are practically tradition with his family. His father and grandfather always got them.

Hopefully he can get back up from this and the surgery and find some kind of success, whether it be in the NBA or overseas.
